W 3-1 vs Doncaster Rovers (H) - League Two - Sat 2nd March, 3pm

Its clear that Sadler has always prefferred 3 at the back. Massive difference is we were starting with 3 traditional centre backs and one of the midfielders was also a centre back, now we only have 2 centre backs in the same 4 places.

Pretty clear why we are more of a threat but i dont think the word stumble is unreasonable given Sadlers hands were forced because of injury.

I dont think its a critisism either, just one of those things.

So here we are Sunday morning and my biggest worry is how the hell am I going to make it through a whole week without a game this week. An addict gotta have his fix.

Long may it continue.

Again, yesterday we saw just how important the crowd can be when we face a set back during a match. Two games on the trott now with a top draw performance from the fans when conceding helps lead to a quick response and stopped it being a turning point in the game (at least not in a negative way😁), lets keep that going.

At the moment I’d suggest if anyone wants to take something away from a visit to the poundland their best bet is to not score, which presents them a bit of a problem if they go behind.

Nothing to do with…

The environment and atmosphere Sadler as created within team and club.

Or

The recruitment in the summer and January

Or

The style of play that has been implemented

Or

The coaching on the training pitch

Na just McEntee dropping out of midfield :joy:

It’s pivotal.

I did tell you all

Clearly not any of those. The actual reason we’re now in the play-offs is that we don’t have Kinsella at the club anymore. After all it’s a well known fact that you’ll never make the top 10 with Kins in your squad, I’m sure I’ve seen that written somewhere.

I did say :face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth:

Who’s autograph I now have

To be fair to Thanatos, even though he doesn’t deserve it. I do like a possession based style. I really enjoyed us under Smith and how Leyton Orient ran away with the league last season.

But it’s why football is such a great game that different styles and tactics can both succeed, and I’m loving the vibe at the moment, so yeah long may it continue!

Would be fun to watch smiths team against our current team!

I keep looking at the league two table on my phone

J Matt has managed to change our whole style of play, he now has defenders doubling up on him and that’s creating space for the team.

It’s so good having a player of this type and on form, it’s something we’ve missed for years.

Also Faal is a fantastic option off the bench, his energy coming on with 20 mins to go is terrifying defenders.

Crazy to think we still have Johnson to come in, we literally have a striker for all occasions now :joy:

I’d agree that he isn’t the best option there when everyone is fit, but the obsession you had with it earlier in the season was almost as if you had to find a drum to bang, now that Kinsella isn’t here anymore ( I believe he’s plying his trade in a division higher ).

You’ve also said lots of other things, more fundamental than the McEntee argument, namely that Sadler should never have been given the job and that he should have been punted a while back. Who were your choices again, and how are they doing right now?

Gnats whisker but I think it was the correct call looking at that screen shot Andy, he does appear to be behind his marker as the ball is delivered…as you say, it didn’t matter though. But again just showing how good the set pieces are becoming

Almost as if he gave it some thought…

We can all be wrong blue.

I didn’t see many of the Sadlerists saying we would finish in the play offs though… so just wrong in another dimension

I think I predicated 10th-12th anyway, which I still think is a fair possibility. Wouldn’t you say?

One thing is for sure, this is probably the weirdest season I’ve seen in a long, long time.

Coleman sacked at Accy, wonder who’s fault that is :grinning:

Indeed we can all be wrong be and often are. I just find it fascinating how different posters react to being wrong. Some stop posting, some put it all down to anything but Sadler, some say it’s because he’s now doing what I said all along , and some say “fair play to him, I was wrong”.

I’ve pretty much been in his corner from day one, mainly based on a bit of trust and seeing a different approach than the anti football we saw under Flynn. I didn’t expect this though although I had decent money on the spreads at ^60 points, a top half finish and the handicap with +33 points (that ones starting to get interesting now).

As You say, could end up between 10-12th but I personally think we are going to get a play off berth :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

It was headed into another player at point blank so it was offside.

Don’t think they were offside initially. Shame. As it was a peach of a ball in.

That is a different point (besides no one would have dared!) The point was whether it was a good idea to sack the manager after such a short time. It may be that, provided a club is financially viable, continuity is a better policy than constant change.

Graydon’s team of 98/99 would take both of them to pieces (in my opinion) Didn’t need possession, but so ruthless. Which adds to what you said about many different styles. Smith’s football was also great though, it wasn’t just possession for the sake of it. There is a big reliance on set pieces in our current set up. Nothing wrong with that either. In a league that is so tight, small edges can have big gains.
