W 3-2 vs Accrington Stanley (H) - League Two - Sat 29th Aug, 3pm

That game had me fidgeting all afternoon. Their equaliser seemed a very soft goal to concede but it’s a promising start at this early stage of the new season with great performances throughout the team. Accrington played some decent football at times but resorted to being a bunch of thugs, how one of them didn’t get red carded is a mystery to me. In the end a hard fought win second in the league and the squad are still settling in. Hopefully some of the stay aways will return.

This is all true, but the flip side is that we’re a very young side, we’ve not got a great deal of height and we’re a side with little experience who will grow through the season.

Their ‘style’ is the one that I’d be most worried about how our team would cope with. Really nasty, physically dominant, dirty and any soft underbelly is exposed in minutes.

We stood up well, played our game, fought them at their own game, lost concentration a couple of times and made it harder than it needed to be and still came away with 3 points.

We’ll learn a lot from that as a team.

Leg injury, not serious.

Spot on. That is why I was surprised Connelly or Leak were omitted. The Coach knew what they were like and our 2 young centre backs found it difficult and like the rest of our team got little protection from the man with the whistle. The referee on Tuesday was much better.

I agree, I think Pressley is getting some unfair stick.

One thing you can be sure of is that, unless the circumstances with the squad are absolutely dire, no player will be run into the ground under Grant’s management.

He seems confident and at ease with the players in his squad being adaptable within his system of play.

Thought he had a good game today. I do think his hold up play needs to improve but he was manhandled all game today and don’t think the ref gave one.

I do think he’s already improving under Grant and it’s still early days though so I’d much rather fans keep off his back, I feel like he’s a confidence player.

Sven Sprangler, ohh oh oh, Sven Sprangler, ohh oh oh, he comes from Austria, he plays for Walsall FC, Sven Sprangler ohh oh oh… :musical_notes:

Couldn’t make the game today but just watched the highlights and surprised the away end was opened for Saddlers…. Strange decision given how sparsely populated other areas of the ground were… we should do it more often IMO

Great win

A few people have mentioned about Browne being poor today. I thought he did some good things in attacking areas, along with a few defensive mistakes. I thought he was significantly better than Ahui, who really struggled I thought.

I’m looking forward to Dixon being back, see how he can improve us, hopefully.

Dixon will be first choice when he’s fit.

Browne I’ve never been a fan of and Ahui doesn’t look a lot better.

I’m no great fan of stats, but I’d be interested to know how many touches Skura, the Black Country Beckenbauer, had today. My guess is about 300

Loved today’s game my first watching live this season. Not perfect but so much better than last season’s anti-football.

Yeah he was In the box…. Point made

According to the BBC

Skura had the most passes followed by
Hancock had 71 passes and Sprangler 55.

It’s an experiment for a few selected home games (those with few away supporters).

The reasoning is that if we lose the toss the opposition turn us around and we play the 2nd half attacking an empty stand.

IMO better to have a few rather than none in the stand.
