Anyone watching Mansfield v Wrexham ?

So much water on the pitch the ball isnt rolling properly.
If it carries on raining this must be at risk of being abandoned.

I’m watching it on S4C and I have to say I’m loving the half time analysis :man_facepalming:t2:.Think I heard Nigel Clough’s name once or twice then the rest sounded like that long welsh train stations name.

I’m on S4C too.
Both defences are all over the place.

Wyt ti ddim yn deall Cymraeg?

Phil Parkinson as ungracious as ever with his post - match comments.

Bit of a bitter sweet pill tonight
Glad Mansfield lost at home pity it was Wrexham that did it

One comment from Karen Carney was that we should look to sign young players from our neighbours.
On the face of it, that seems reasonable.
The issues are though that only a tiny percentage of PL/Cat 1 academy graduates go on to have a career in full time professional football.
Those of 18 plus are frequently on £10k a week or more, wages would be a massive obstacle.

As a fan I want a pundit to tell me something I don’t know. To come at things from an angle I’m not able to consider. To offer a perspective that relates to the game, competition or stature of the fixture. Something that they can relate to and to then articulate it to me as a supporter.

Carney will have played most of her career in front of 200/300 people for Blues Ladies. The women’s game isn’t comparable.

The gaffer from the team who play Charlton - great, fantastic it’s applicable to the fixture. But can’t tell me a woke token female pundit who can Google a few news articles or say what we all say - go get some youngsters from local clubs - it’s not good punditry at all.

To put it bluntly!

Maybe their academy education should include a reality check. A training module in real world expectations if they fail to make the grade.

Just been next door to check but apparently their lad can’t play football, so no joy there unfortunately.

Popped next door , their lad can play a bit. He says he would be interested once he’s finshed his geography degree next year, but he doesn’t want to move to Poland.

My neighbour is 73. He told me Walsall have tried to sign him a couple of times in the last few seasons, but the club were put off by his lack of experience and said they might have another look in a few years. Pomlett thinks he might be a game changer apparently.

If you want a real game changer should be signing younger players, they do it all the while on their consoles and PC.

Err, I’ll get my coat.:confounded:

I am not sure I understand that.

You mention that you weren’t interested in Karen Carney’s comments as she has only ever played in front of 200/300 fans every week for Blues women , yet Cray Valley paper Mills in their last home game had 104 fans and you think that their managers comments were more valid.
I am not sure how the validity of a pundit is relevant to the amount of people that watch…

Men & women play the same game - with the same rules.
The physiology of women might make their game different to the mens - but its still the same game - with the same competitiveness.

Also, he (presumably) is okay to comment on football on message boards etc, when I would imagine he’s never played football at any meaningful level, but the opinion of former England Womens international with 144 caps is invalid?

It’s not that difficult to comprehend. If Karen Carney was managing in the the first round of the FA Cup she’d have something worth saying and listening to. Point is, she hasn’t. Ladies football yeah sure.

144 England Ladies Caps. Are we really saying they hold any weight when it comes to her suitability to offer an insight in to lower League football.

@addo trust me it isn’t the same game. It isn’t coached the same, they aren’t managed the same, their leagues aren’t structured the same, the tactics aren’t the same. The pitch is the same size, the laws are the same. That is all.

@TheRedPrince i think a football forum is a bit different to national tv. But I’d argue every fan on here even you would be better suited to passing comment than Karen Carney. Guessing you have a good few hundred L1 and L2 games under your belt.

It IS coached the same .
I coached in womens football for 6 years .
I have coached teams in the womens FA cup.

Does the womens game have the same level of interest as the mens ? - No
( but the mens game has had 100 years start. )
Does womens football have the same number of particpants ? - No
Is it the same game with the same rules - Yes

In the actual game there is no difference except the physiology.
How come Phil Neville has coached in both the mens & the womens game ?

When I took my coaching qualifications I was mentored by both men and women.
So - are you saying that the women that taught me wouldn’t have been as good as the men ?
