I’d agree that you should always have a critical eye on any owners as ultimately they are in it to make money. However, the club was dying on it’s arse under bonser/ pomlett with non league looking extremely likely within a few years. Short of fan ownership, there’s always a risk but I’m starting to think that the yanks have decent ambitions for the club with maybe championship being a target.
Indeed! Remember LP stating that there were a few other consortia interested in WFC before he decided that Trivela was the best option. Who knows, maybe the Crypto Bro’s, now at Crawley, were one of the interested parties? (so glad that WFC dodged that particular bullet).
I’d hope when the time comes that these guys, having engaged with the community & fanbase, would go through the same due dilligence process as LP did, rather than accept the highest bid.
Only time will tell…
Sure. Think the biggest to my interpretation is that these guys are investors, not speculators. They know what they can get, rather than what they think they might get. A world of difference.
Not even a year since a coffin was placed at the main entrance doors, amazing how the mood has shifted in that time. I am glad to be rid of Bonser once and for all from our club which I’ll be forever grateful to LP and Trivela for securing the freehold which not too long ago seemed an impossibility without the council’s or some wealthy fan’s help.
These guys are fund managers , as PE fund managers they will receive an annual management fee equal to x% of the value of the fund managed ( in Canada that used to be around 1.25% , in NZ and Aussie on a recent equity raise we were asked to pay 2.25%) .
BB and Co make money by holding the investment as well as selling it , they will only be inclined to look at disposing of WFC if as enterprise our value substantially drops ie we end up in the Conference North) , there is no incentive to asset strip unless the assets are worth substantially more engaged in another activity. The fund is also a value proposition fund with a feel good factor “investing in community” etc. . Yes it can turn to custard but I don’t believe they are in it for the money the way some people think as that is not the structure of these types of funds.
Perhaps a trivial point, but is it unreasonable of me to be irritated by the ongoing presence of Whalley at the club, or do I need to let that go?
Should I be satisfied that Mr Boycott has publicly valued his commercial skills and therefore should that override any customer facing deficiencies that he has demonstrated in the past?
No. Definitely not. He is the epitome of the Bonser regime and all it stood for and deserves to be remembered as such by the fans he was once part of but is now hated by.
Listen too his interview on WM
I believe they have a genuine interest in doing good within the community as well as what’s best for the club.
I say this because a brief look into the background of some of the new owners / investors (Boycott/Polk/Crosby) shows they’ve done similar in other areas.
No offence DH but those type of agenda’s need too dropped and forgot about now, Time too get the whole club on the same path and look forward, no if’s or but’s or worry’s about other plans… Its time the club and fans got the momentum on and off the pitch and finally used it too our own good and started becoming a team we all can be proud of…You have quite a big voice in terms of fans so use it right and get any “sour” idea’s gone and get pulling us along with the club too higher and better pastures which we 100% deserve! Disappointed you couldn’t even seem happy about it or even have some praise for what has been a huge turning point on and off the pitch the last few months
No, no, no. It is entirely reasonable. Boner, in my opinion, deserves all of the opprobrium that several on here have aimed at him, but it behooves us to remember the part played by Whalley, who was the right hand man to Boner. This new version of WFC needs to kick Whalley out on his arse fairly sharpish, as well as changing the name of the Boner Suite.
I agree its time to look forward and get behind the club we have dreamed of being in this situation for years.
100%
We cant keep looking for things too blame or hold a grudge too or even doubt things that we know nothing about! All hear say and it has always been a huge thing here, BB and co have stepped up and given us a life line right here, Yes they come too invest but they need this club too thrive too make said money, which helps us and them in the long term! And if you hear BB speak he actually sounds like a bloke who has found a new little love in a new country in a totally random area…Its done it too so many people so why couldn’t it be true with him? EVERYONE had doubts in LP but he also has proved he always had the clubs best interests at heart, isnt that what we all wanted? MF has got a team playing with pride and fire! It really is the best time in god knows how many years that we all have a huge chance too see our club prosper and gain some momentum, so every fan, fans group, supporter, needs too pull in that correct direction and let the club flourish and showcase too the whole world what a club we actually are!!!
ISSA have done some great work trying to get the club to be clear of the bonser strangle hold of the club via protests and putting our views across in wpm meetings. Yet there is no statement from them and the only comment is one of trepidation.
Me too, pisses me right off
The very man who said Bonser should have a statue outside the main entrance utter cnut.
We could have pulled it down and rolled it into the cut, like they did with that one in Bristol
Sounds like you’ve drifted into a land of hope and dreams Jumbo.
Why is there a statue of Boner in Bristol?
Because he was a pirate that helped himself to others wealth.
