Just seen on the news that Port Vale fans have raised £100,000 for a statue of John Rudge which was unveiled today.
Surely we could raise money for a statue at Bescot of Colin Taylor or Alan Buckley or maybe a group of players in a promotion winning year.
Obviously my vote would go for Jeff Bonser…

Got to be Andreas Makris, surely?

Or one of our beloved Jeff perhaps, as favoured by our equally beloved Roy (and bizarrely Chris Marsh).

Sir Ray would be the popular choice I’d imagine.
They would never have a statue at Bescot of Buckley, mind you saying that the old lot have gone now, so maybe attitudes have changed.

Well if we were to use the same firm that are producing these type of sculptures were seeing today, if they didn’t put any clothes on them to give you a clue if they were players or managers you wouldn’t be able to work out, or recognize who the hell they’re supposed to be they are that poor.

Instead of having an ex player or manager, perhaps the club could commission a third corgi from whoever did the ones in the Arbo.
Graydon if anyone for me. I dread to think what the 00s may have had in stock for us with Jeff at the helm if not for the platform Ray gave us.
Possibly Buckley - but just a bit before my time.

They could even use the one they did of Rudge as they both wore a cap …and you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference

Some questions.
What is the statue made from?
If its made of some sort of alloy, what is the scrap value?
Ash Taylor maybe. You wouldn’t need to commission a sculptor, just get the actual person and nobody could tell the difference.

Buckley for me. I wish he would have come on the pitch at the Grimsby match.

Bronze according to the news report.

Just get a wardrobe, stick it on a plinth, and put a plaque with “Ash Taylor” written on it, and it would be the best likeness ever.
