Walsall "supporters " dragging the club down

Our “fans” dragging the clubs name down in support of Yaxley Lennon.

While the club can’t do much as the chanting was in a public space, I’m hoping that the club (I’ve emailed them the link) and our various supporter groups will be quick to distance themselves from the support shown towards that racist convict.

What could the club do anyway if it was in the ground?

I would rather keep poitical issues out of football. Wether your views are left or right i would much rather here pro Walsall songs. I noticed a lot more asian and black fans at the game on Saturday which was great the Saddlers family should welcome all.
Even more stupid than chanting for a political figure is the anti pope nonsense. I know countless Catholic Walsall fans including some of my family we also have loads of Irish players and owners own an Irish club where many of our fans had a brilliant time in the summer. A small number of our fans are just a bit thick.

I don’t think either need to do anything of the sort. Nobody is breaking the law, or even doing anything that could seriously be construed as anti-social (eg swearing, threatening, intimidating). Do I like it? No. But that’s just my opinion, so long as those lines arn’t crossed is an important point. What happens on Walsall FC premises is another matter. Would you think the club would have to distance itself from say someone wearing a Walsall top involving themselves on one of the many loud and quite nausiating pro-Palestinian marches that are everywhere right now? Including one that was inexplicably encamped on the concourse of New Street Station during rush hour the other week causing chaos? The only “stir” being caused, quite literally, is the one trying to increase the clicks on “Fan Banter”.

Yeah, football clubs apologising or having to distance themselves for stuff they have no control over (and that’s isn’t even on their premises), is ridiculous.

Best thing they can do is just ignore it and not give it any airtime.

Club can’t be responsible for the actions of troglodyte fans off premises, but when they’re wearing the shirt it doesn’t reflect well on the rest of us. The club regularly communicate anti-racism messages and promote inclusivity, perhaps need a stronger line on anti-racism, given how Tommy Ten Names and his enabling cronies are emboldened by the current environment where anything goes and truth is optional.

Not condoning the actions as it’s obviously idiotic stuff and embarrassing but the irony of the comments from supporters of others clubs who all have the same plonkers in their own ranks is frustrating…

We don’t live in an environment where “anything goes”, hence the fact that Yaxley-Lennon is currently in jail for contempt of court having previously been ordered to pay a hundred grand in compo to the individual against whom he made defamatory remarks, and whom was at the centre of the injunction that Y-L repeatedly breached leading to his imprisonment.

If those individuals in the short film had made directly racist comments rather than just singing a bloke’s name and “stop the boats” then if they could be identified they should face consequences, but they didn’t. “Stop the boats” was literally government policy under the last lot, and as recently as yesterday the fake Labour PM was bragging about deporting 24,000 illegal migrants and according to the MSM wants to treat illegal migration in the same way as terrorism.

To be honest, mate, on some of the Facebook pages, Walsall fans are some of the most embarrassing. Anyone who knows me will know I always defend Walsall fans but some of it is so cringeworthy. I have recently removed myself from some of the pages.

Bradford fans run ours close though.

3 points tomorrow they can all think what they like :crossed_fingers:

I only watched it once but apart from an old bloke stumbling out at the end that didn’t appear to be with them, I didn’t notice one Walsall shirt or scarf.

Its not my POV, but they’re free to sing what they want where they want… its what makes this country brilliant.

Maybe the faux outrage brigade on fan banter should turn their ire on this crock of bollox I noticed on the Trainline website today….what a bloomin cheek!!! Do they post “disruption warnings” about tens of thousands of race goers, or Gay Pride weekends, or music festivals?? Just a few hundred Makems going to Brizzle, big deal.

Football supporters eh?? The underclass that come with a health warning .

As a Catholic myself, I don’t appreciate songs slagging off the Pope. But, I do appreciate that things get sung in the heat of the moment at football matches. We need to be inclusive, though, and welcome all sections of the community if we are to grow as a football club.

Leave your religious, political and social agendas at the turnstiles. One thing matters when you pass through the turnstile. 3 points. I’ve never heard this in a ground from us. I don’t think we will.

Do you vent your social political or religious beliefs in your colours or in the name of the club outside the ground - tricky. Free country. Free speech should not be stopped but when you do and its associated with a Club it in some way attaches to us all. Thats when I think these guys need to think - there are better platforms for this.

A truly fascinating set of responses ranging from “are they really fans” to “what’s the problem with tomee”. At least they don’t descend as low some of the “fans” comments on the Facebook page of a supporters group.

The video shows a group of Walsall fans (I’d imagine some on here would know some of them) strutting through an ethnically diverse town centre shouting out their love for a scumbag who promotes racial hatred. If it barks like a dog, it’s probably a dog whatever your self denial.

Is it any wonder we have such a pathetically low number of spectators from ethnic minorities?

Show us the evidence.

I’ve never seen any racial hatred. Criticising Islam just like criticising Christianity isn’t racial hatred. So go on, show me when he’s been racist.

What’s Yaxley-Lennon famous for? Grifting nationalism and racism. If you’re singing his name what else are you singing it for? Because you like it? Because it scans?

Definitely a criminal. Owes £2 million to creditors, fiddled his taxes and now having his board and lodging paid for by the tax payer.

More of a burden to this country than any immigrant.

I haven’t chanted his name or give a monkeys about his criminal record. I’m just simply curious if anyone can give us evidence of him being racist and I’ll say fair enough cause I’m yet to see any of him being racist. All I see is the media pushing far right and throwing labels ( just like people on here ) without actually providing any evidence to back it up.
