I was more enthusiastic about the older heads being discussed if I’m honest. We’re a mess at the minute and I think it needs somebody to push back on some of Trivela’s worse ideas.
That said, happy to give him a chance.

I’d say with Grant being appointed it rules out numerous managers turning us down rumour as it seems Grant and Watson are the only ones that have been serious linked one accepted the other his club declined our approach.

As others have said, more than happy with this.
Now the recruitment team (Jordan, McGregor, Mairs and Sadler) have to support him by getting the best players possible in.
More 3 at the back if his Huddersfield stint is anything to go off on.

As a Head Coach, I think he’ll be perfect for it.
Mairs said they were looking to appoint someone who is good on the training pitch and he’ll be just that.
Seemed last summer at Huddersfield like someone who players wanted to play for, so if he can bring in a couple of extra quality players based on his ability to convince them to join us, obviously that would be great.

When we appointed Sadler, it was clearly a panic appointment as we’d gone after strong managers and failed. There was no metric by which he’d have come out on top.
Before Mairs, I think we would have gone for Ridgewell or Byfield but they bottled it due to the fan reaction/the need to sell season tickets.
This is a good appointment. As soon as Mairs came in we started doing things properly and every manager we were linked with seemed to have a good reason as to why they made sense.
If their man is Lee Grant, then I’m inclined to trust their judgement and look forward to seeing who his assistant/coaches are and am excited to see who the early signings are and what tells us.
Back him and let him get on with it.

Hopefully Byfield is out the door. Is it under the Trivela remit for him to bring his own staff in?

Who is Watson?
There’s going to have to be a shift in recruitment then, defenders competent on the ball and midfielders who can take the ball off the defenders and dictate play.
Think I would’ve had a heart attack watching Flint and Farq playing out from the back🤣
More than happy to have him, hope hes backed in the summer, I just hope he isn’t a Trivela lap dog yes man.

Can’t say as I’m overwhelmed or underwhelmed to be honest. He has good coaching credentials which should fit in with the structure we now have. However good a coach he is he needs something to work with so it’s all about the player recruitment now which needs to be better than last year which will be a challenge given the sheer volume of turnover. Like any coach he will need some time and patience which is in short supply in modern football.
In Grant we trust.
