Working party minuites

Being cynical I wonder if membership will be automatic with the purchase of a season ticket. The club will then be able to claim that the largest supporters association is their official one and they can marginalise ISSA and the Trust.

You old cynic

Following Walsall Business Club makes you cynical. In other areas of my life I’m easygoing, trusting, and even a little naive sometimes. But with this lot, I become a cynical, paranoid, misanthrope who mistrusts everything on first sight. :joy:

Yes maybe. I struggle to see what benefits they could offer. I don’t and unlikely to drink in the bar at the stadium and certainly wouldn’t travel on a club coach to an away match, but let’s see what they come out with,

36 years as a Saddlers fans does that to you! I’m clearly not the only one!

The way ST sales look like they’re going they’ll not be the largest supporters association

I hope there will be some fan consultation for the membership scheme. Feels like too important a project and too great an opportunity for the Club to just present what they think we want rather than what we’ve asked for.

Another classic one liner. :joy: Keep 'em coming.

Why does anyone bother with these

It’s obvious , surely.
You sign up and then get second dibs on the big match tickets after the season ticket holders, plus you can buy match tickets from them, if a season ticket holder can’t attend when the game is sold out.
In addition you get the opportunity to be drawn out the hat if a season ticket holder decides not to renew

As far as I am concerned I am still a Registered Supporter of the business, having joined in the days of Wal Pepper, if I remember correctly. I’ll have to find my old card out, which I’m sure I’ve still got somewhere.
I do remember producing it to Whalley at the Fellows Park ticket window in an attempt to get a ticket for the Watford cup replay. In typical customer service, he sent me away ticketless as he had never heard of the Registered Supporter scheme. That’s a lifelong Supporter for you, or whatever he is.

Yep exactly what I think, then they can keep it in line. Hope people don’t buy into it.

Hand picked I dare say too mate.

Sounds like they’ve already worked it up reading that? I dread to think the amount of categories there will be, you just know it’s going to be a mess.

Yes that membership scheme was implemented for the start of the 78-9 season. You couldn’t travel on the coaches unless you were a registered member. A morbid attempt to combat hooliganism if I remember correctly. It coincided with one of the worst ever Walsall seasons programmes. They were terrible just like the team that season.

You read the minutes and they all sound fine and positive and such like, and then you look at what’s actually happening to the club and wonder if it’s the same club they’re talking about! :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Talk the talk, but not walk the walk perhaps!??

Do you mean the newspaper style programme?

Any membership crap is a not very clever way of trying to get fans “in” as part of the club and avoiding any sort of dissent. Very obvious attempt to undermine ISSA. I joined ISSA because they are independent and incredibly hard working. Trying to be a critical friend. That’s what a fans group should be. I certainly won’t become a member of any group that is controlled by the charlatans in charge of the club.
