2023/4 Kits

My thoughts too.

Again it comes down to our marketing. The whole lot needs a revamp and being as it’s massive part of teams nowadays it seems we’re doing a disservice to what could be done.

Where’s the detail images? Or do we just have none in the shirts?

Yes - although they are usually only equivalent to a 2 or 3 XL in any other clothing sizing chart.

There’s more images coming out now, but they’re all of the front and the tops only.

A bit strange - they’re trying to flog these shirts for nigh on £50 a pop - couldn’t they show us what they look like properly?

We don’t want any fat barstewards ruining the image!!

Play it safe???

Mole, Pomlett and Gamble dont sit at their desks designing football shirts ffs.
Dont know what it is they actually do but it certainly isnt this!

Getting to the stage where It really doesn’t matter in the general scheme of things…but (sigh), I thought the whole point in having green in the kit was to make it a unique strip, ie. play in red white and green as we did late 70/s early 80’s. All red isn’t unique, and is most synonymous with Liverpool who even had a bit of green trim a couple of seasons ago. So its another idea (and quite a good one in my opinion) that’s just lost its way in the execution. White shirts red shorts would be an equally good unique identity (barring Stevenage I suppose). Again its just a small point, they just don’t seem capable of doing anything with conviction this lot, even when its their idea!!

I was told that Dan Mole designed, or at least helped design the home kit a few years ago.

This one.

See my later post - the “bigger” sizes these days are actually no bigger than than the more moderate sizes elsewhere (or that we used to have before changing supplier).

A few seasons back, I was XL (2XL at most) for every other top or t-shirt I wore, and I used to get pretty baggy 4 or even 3 XLs home shirts from the club shop (that, by the way, I still have and they are still a little baggy on me - I have spread out a bit to around out a 3XL but not quite Mr Creosote). And then we switched suppler and couldn’t even get their 4XL on, never mind a 3 - and the 8 (and now 9) XL was still tight. God knows what a small is like. :see_no_evil:

And don’t forget that many people wear their club colours over other outer clothes (even coats) so need a much bigger size than they’d normally need for any other top.

And it’s not much, trust me

At least it’s better than the 1920-1939 kits …

Not to mention 1903-09!!

Walsall Town player taking a corner in 1874…

1914/15’s a nice one, although it does make you wonder how anyone actually knew any of these with such detail.

And got a freebee hols in Italy out of it!

I like the white one red is ok not keen on the 3rd kit.

Panic over - the bigger sized home shirts (but curiously not adult away socks) have now been added to the online shop.

Hope the pre-ordering goes better than last year when mine had gone missing when I went in to collect and no others in stock. I had to wait until a few weeks into the season before a replacement arrived - although to their credit they did give me a free away top as compensation for the error at their end.

I’m glad there is a bit of green and definitely glad there is no black. I don’t like black in our strip.

The kit is fine! The price isn’t!

The away kit being described as having a trendy trim is :joy:

With the amount of secret shirt companies and the trend is to have a cool looking design. Extra revenue would be generated of they’d though of a nice one.

Showed it my nine year old and his first words were 'what the hell! It’s the same as last year" :joy:
These kids want funky designs. He was “ok” with the away top.

Trendy is it the 80s?

Smart marketing by Trivela to increase sales by making the home one so similar to last seasons :see_no_evil: :see_no_evil:

It’s not though. Last seasons had a subliminated pattern.

The 3rd shirt is very disappointing. Normally scope for some originality, but not this year.
