Top post mate ( Orkney ) and every word resonated .
That’s one of the best posts I’ve read on here and great credit to you @Orkney_saddler .
I try to live a decent life remember those no longer with us keep them in my thoughts and support our team.
I don’t boo or shout abuse during or after games but yesterday I found myself thinking of the younger generation of fans and how sad it must be for them right now. I’m knocking on and won’t be around for ever but the children that were there are the future of our club and I so wanted them to see a positive end to a season that will be remembered for the wrong reasons.
I’m just so glad that I can forget about Walsall fc for a few weeks and not have my weekends ruined.
You know i actually said to Mrs WV last night that the last time Walsall won anything was 2007 - I was 18. Perhaps our yet to be born Saddler might see something when he’s about the age i was.
It really puts into perspective how shit the last nigh on 20 years have been.
I feel so sorry for our younger fanbase, its all they’ve ever known, yet still back them home and away.
We really have blew it havent we. The over riding feeling today, as many have already said - is even more anger.
To say that I was surprised was an understatement!
52 yrs in Hull & apart from my children the only saddler here I ve met.
Hopefully say hello if you are at Grimsby etc -grounds we thought we would not be visiting next season.
I live in the Avenues by the way.
Didn’t go last year not going up this year
Will sell players lose out of contract and loan players
How is that moving forward
This is the mentality of Trivela and Sadler
We will go nowhere with either get him out
I was very impressed with the number of young fans there yesterday, its one of the few positives to take away. There was a time a few years ago when we seemed to have a very stale, ageing fanbase. I think if these owners make some good decisions over the summer and use their resources to make some quality, permanent signings there’s still a bright future ahead. The “if” is a very big one though, this is a real test for them.
If there is positives from this season then surely one of the big ones is that Trivela have seen the potential in Walsall FC. The ticket sales at home, the 1000k away followings the joy and atmosphere in response to our good form. The Locker packed out on Matchdays.
They have to see that and reward it and harness it going forwards.
I’ve been on this forum for years albeit in the shadows and I’m shocked I’ve just met hullsaddler from UTS, First contact ever with another UTS member. Haha and yeh I also live on the avenues can you believe. 30 years a supporter and never seen anything like this season.
We werent loud at all yesterday to be honest. Toyslly outsung by those Wimbledon fans in yhe lower teir who were deafening at times. Im not criticising the fans. I guess we were just all resigned to abject failure
Nothing much to sing about.
No pressure
No passes
No shots
Not even a yellow card
Maybe 17000 knew the writing was on the wall and were resigned to an abject performance. AGAIN!
That’s what I said to my mate, we lost but we didn’t even have one thing to cheer. Abysmal
Agreed. But loud we definetely were not. Not a single chant seemed to reach the area I was sitting in second half
I know my personal hygiene could be better but stale is a bit harsh Good to see ya fella
Your post resonates greatly with me too @Orkney_saddler - other than I only had to make the relatively short trip back to Stourbridge and my Dad has been gone for 24 years now - but we too bonded over the Saddlers - and I feel closest to him at the match. I guess I’ll be putting up with it for a while longer too!
They were great, but whilst the lower tier were singing away, i had a look at the ones in the upper tier and it was very weird, not a single person was showing any emotion, just sitting there doing nothing.
Far too many daytrippers.
What struck me yesterday was that everyone I spoke to from Walsall were dubious about our chances. Had a good day meeting lots of Wimbledon fans who were 100% confident they’d win and I remember it was the same when we played Bristol City there. It came over in the Atmosphere as well I was block 104 and all I could hear were Wimbledon.
We are in such a negative tailspin I fear for next year.
Well said. That rings true for so many of us.
Trivela should be ashamed and forced into some positive forward thinking action by posts such as yours.
We need to be very vocal about the complete and abject failure of a robotic naive Coach who spouts utter diarrhoea drivel and was outthought by most quality opposition Managers in games.
Plan A became no plan became part Plan B with zero ability to change in game.
Don’t talk to me about giving Josh Gordon a 2 year Contract.
Saddler out.
UTS.
You won’t be disappointed next season then.
Good post and you are right, a team that couldn’t even get a point against Accrington and only got 2 points against a poor Gillingham is probably where they deserve to be in L2. That said we were 15 points clear and have managed to screw it up, very sorry but that is unforgivable and won’t be forgotton quickly.
Anyone thinking that L2 won’t be stronger next season dream on.
