I went to Wembley full of hope because of the three previous games but almost from the first whistle it was hoofball.
I sat through the first half bored stiff watching dull uninspiring rubbish and becoming more and more frustrated until finally I became resigned to the fact it wasn’t our day.
It improved second half but tbh by that time I just wanted to go home.
The thought of more of that way of playing next season makes me feel as excited as spending the night in a room with a venomous snake.
I love the club and being in an environment with like minded people but I honestly think Mat Sadler will be in charge come August and I can see why Trivela would keep him after all we did finish higher this season than the previous one but for me he’s far too rigid, refusing to change until the situation is forced upon him.
Had we climbed the table to fourth and lost to Wimbledon as sad as I would have felt I could have accepted it. The problem is we were running away with the league, cruising along and then.
I know all teams have a wobble at some point and that’s understandable but we didn’t have a wobble, we had an embarrassing collapse until we went to Crewe and suddenly (although it was heartbreaking) we were back and reinforced that at Chesterfield and again on the following Friday night in an amazing atmosphere.
The thought of watching more of the same next season doesn’t inspire me whatsoever.
Its ridiculous that he is still around. Probably whispering Brian Dutton’s name in Boycott’s shell-like.
Yes, and add in the preventable collapse at Cheltenham - those 2 points would have been enough!!
BB: “Is this a dagger I see before me?!”
To those quick to criticize or wish to be rude. Pause. Reflect. Consider the journey.
The most patronising thing I’ve heard in a long time.
Just because they’re the ones investing, don’t tell others how to feel and certainly not after a couple of years in comparison to those who have followed the club for decades. Such shortsightedness from their part.
End of January onwards is inexcusable. The performance is inexcusable. To tell supporters otherwise is not wise and may negatively impact their ‘investment’.
Yep. They’re absolutely clueless.
Assume that’s aimed at me.
And your wrong, I don’t celebrate shiteness, I just don’t see the point of all the carping and bitching about shit that’s out of our control, your the one who often brings up being realistic after all. Also if this board’s to be believed then many posters won’t care because they be attended if we’ve got the same manager. |Without factoring in that the club have stated that we were going to have a set style of play with a coach overseeing ir, so it’ll probably be the same 532/352 pressing game whoevers in charge.
And regards this…
I posted
In response to some crap about being ashamed of supporting Walsall.
And then got some smartarsed snide abuse about it.
I respond when people try and get smart poking me/baiting for a response.
If you can’t take it don’t give it.
Any way glad to see you’re still hot on the same BS agenda as your other incarnation.
You called someone a ‘vile scumbag’.
Own your own faults. No apology recieved.
Give it a rest, gents.
I wasn’t talking to you.
For what?
To feed your ego and sanse of entitlement?
Sorry Simon,
I’m off for lunch now that’s me for the daytime.
Assuming its not contractural as part of the purchase, you can only assume that BB doesnt trust Ben Sadler/Matt Jordan on a day to day basis and wants his oppo on the ground when he’s in the States
This was the day the season deserved. A microcosm of the season.
Big build up.
Great support.
Promise.
Then clueless management
Heartless players
More of the same then !
It’s not out of our control, vote with your feet.
I decided to watch the recording of the match. I have noticed the following during the first half:
Long high pass to Matt that failed to reach him, or he could not win in the air, resulting in lost possession : 0:10, 1:06, 1:30, 2:16, 4:48, 6:09, 9:27, 14:18, 17:43, 18:37, 25:06, 27:18, 29:59, 35:18, 42:53
Long high pass to Matt that he won in the air and used well, or completed a pass to a Walsall player:
That is not including the medium range high passes and throw-ins to Matt that resulted in lost possession, or the unnecessary fouls he gave away.
Matt is absolute dogshit
I do not blame Matt, who was a good player in his day.
The fault lies with the manager who sends out a team at Wembley with the instructions to lump the ball up in the air to a player who tries hard but, is past it, against a team that defends the high ball very well.
To be a bit fair we know that tactic has often resulted in 2nd half goals this season when the defenders have tired, but that didn’t happen on Monday either, so the conclusion has to be it was a failed tactic.
Couldn’t care if he was scoring 40 goals a season in his day … The past 4 months he has been absolutely abysmal. If he spent less time fouling/complaining to the referee he might have scored a few more goals.
I blame Sadler for persisting with him.
The fact that Walsall players used the tactic of lumping the ball long to Matt four times in the first 136 seconds of the match, and then gradually less often as the game went on, suggests to me that the team began faithfully following the manager’s instructions, but as the game went on, and the players realised it was not working, used that tactic less and less.
Just as bizarre to me was the sight of Stirk occasionally attempting to run through onto a long ball into the channel. The Wimbledon defenders just eased him out of the way every time.
