AFC Wimbledon (N) - League 2 Play-Off Final, Mon 26th May, 3:01 pm

Exactly that and the other tactic seemed to be any throw in past the half way line was a long throw from Williams…
Once he went off injured we had no idea what to do with a simple basic throw in, we might as well of just given the ball back to Wimbledon as every time we got a throw it just ended up back with them.
For whatever reason we have been pants with throws for years and that surely just comes down to coaching.
Thats my rant over

It hit a new low with Dave’s foul throw. :man_facepalming::woozy_face:

I totally agree. We have 20 to 25 throw-ins in an average match, but it looks as if we never coach them.

I am not sure what is worse: the quality of the throw, which often arrives at crotch-height to the players; or the lack of mobility of the receiving players in order to make a space in which to throw the ball.

I’ve considered the feckin journey. I’ve paused: deep breath; I’ve reflected, and I’m still totally pssed off!! Wrexham get rich Americans, we get Trivela. They tell me that Trivela is an investment company, well invest some cash in the team FFS!

Do they still do: What happened next?!!

Ironically, I watched the game with a Bournemouth fan (long story) and he couldn’t believe how poor we were. That single moment encapsulated everything and we both just looked at each other and shook our heads.

I have tried very hard to accept the past three months and I really do as much as I can to be positive, optimistic and supportive of others; however, the scars of the last three months are going to take a long time to heal.

Doncaster have proven that you can rebuild after play off disappointments and I hope we don’t leave it too long to make a statement signing.

The people behind Trivela seem to be just as wealthy as Reynolds and McElhenny, if not wealthier.
Difference is the money thrown at Wrexham is paid for by what they get back from the TV programme and associated publicity.

Finally calmed down a bit to post some comments on this:

  1. Our strategy seemed to be lump it up for Jamma to win or for Jellis or Hall to run onto.

Jamma didn’t win a single header. I was sat on the halfway line and saw him make a half hearted attempt at a challenge where he sort of turned his side to the opposition and brushed up against him. He didn’t even jump. Really struggling to think of a worse performance from a Walsall player in a match that really mattered. The signs were there to see for months with Jamma but Sadler did nothing about it.

  1. In the first half we lost nearly every 50-50 challenge. That’s more on the players rather than Sadler. How we were out fought was embarrassing to watch.

  2. Two shots all game.

  3. If we’re gonna lose lose 4 or 5 nil. Bring on some attacking players. DJ, Wheatley, RAM. Not a single one of these even made the bench - yet Comely did. Big mistake by Sadler there. It’s not even a gamble. If you lose 1-0 you may as well lose big instead and go for broke. Idiot management.

  4. Was happy with the line up before the match I’ll admit. Box formation had done well for us. Wimbledon just weren’t allowing Hall or Jellis to win through - a lot of shirt pulling going on. But that’s the way Wimbledon play and Sadler should have anticipated that. No plan B.

  5. Looked around the crowd. Some lots of young un’s there - will they want to keep following the Saddlers after that? - I really hope so - but hard when we’ve had no success for 18 years!! Some old 'uns there too - including me - will we ever see any Walsall success again in our lifetime?

Watching and waiting to see what Trivela do. Sacking Sadler only worth it if they have someone better in mind. Don’t want another reset and more excuses.

I agree with that TS. They might decide to keep Sadler and sack Waddock and Byfield instead, as sacrificial lambs! Something needs to be done, as the playing “style” is terrible to watch. I don’t want us to go back to the 2012/13 Dean Smith style of tippy-tappy football, but some build up of play would be good to watch. If I wanted to watch a wrestling match, I’d go to the WWE, not WFC!

Thought the problem on Monday was that Chang was anonymous.
Hall fantastic, and Stirk and Jellis running around trying to cover everything because Chang was just not in it, almost like being a man down in midfield.

I’ve just spoken with my 83 year old neighbour. She loves sport, mainly tennis and golf, but she has Sky and said she’d watch the Walsall match on her laptop as a casual football fan.

I saw her this morning and the first thing she asked me was: why did you have a forward who couldn’t run and why did your team pump long balls that he had no chance of getting?

She got it in 5 minutes, FFS. Sadler still hasn’t got it after several months (or he stubbornly refuses to do anything about it).

That’s because we completely bypassed him by launching long balls.

I forgot about Chang playing tbh…

Chang has good physical attributes and can get around the pitch. He also can handle the ball in tight areas and use his quick feet to get out of them and recycle possession. The old giving and receiving player keeping forward momentum going and keeping the opposition moving. Unfortunately not brilliant attributes for Sadlers Walsall. So many times he lays it off moves a yard creates an angle to get on the half turn and then watches it launched 40 yards ahead of him instead of back to him.

I’m surprised Tommy didn’t have a word for his adoring public in the wider football world - seeing as he’s the only goalkeeper around who wastes time and celebrates when his team-mates score.

Anyone have a contact number for the ISSA coach company?

I lost a White walsall shirt on coach J, the one with the fans names on it, must have falled out my bag.
