Are you sure when he said ‘it’s good to have options’ he wasnt talking about his favorite hot chocolate drink.
Amongst all the gloom of our home form falling off a cliff its worth remembering we are unbeaten in our last 6 away (1 wn 5 draws) which is quite decent. I am going for another draw tomorrow 1-1 I actually that will be a good result and set us up nicely to turn our home form round with wins v Harrogate and Accy plus a win at either Newport or Crewe which takes us up. Oh happy days are coming.
Bought our tickets yesterday, looking forward to it despite our form.
If it was me I’d be bringing in Barrett, Daniels, Harrison and Lakin back into the starting 11, probably in place of Asiimwe, Okagbue, Weir and Matt. Could probably argue a few more changes but don’t think we’ll change more than that realistically.
2-1, McEntee and Harrison with the goals
Its time to be positive.
We’ve got this.
UTFS
I agree. A fit and firing Connor Barrett can make a massive difference to our ability to break at speed.
His assists record is very good and he and Taylor Allen are big contributors to our overall success this season.
Daniels might just help to steady the ship through these stormy waters.
I’d love to see Josh Gordon involved tomorrow, too, even if it is off the bench.
It’s time for Sadler to drop mcentee, Matt, jellis, hornby, Gordon. Get Barrett back in , put the kid from Charlton at left wing back. Get Williams in. Chang in. Harrison with Levi up top.
I agree about Hornby and Jellis.
I’d be very surprised to see Liam or Oisin out of the team though.
McEntee will be missed, I think, if he moves on in the summer. He’s not the most gifted footballer in the world, but he’s the kind of teammate that does a huge amount to support the team. His performance in the second half against Notts County at Xmas was immense and his assists for the Levi goals (Port Vale and Bromley) were straight off the training ground and difficult to defend against.
Strangely, for a centre back, McEntee is one of if not the best crossers of the ball we have. Couple of nice assists from long throws with nice overhead lobs. I know that isn’t his main job.
Unlikely in his case.
Its not just Mat Sadler responsible, some of the players need to look at themselves. Need to come together now and give eachother a rocket and a leg up. I want to see some accountability. Never mind all the back slapping when your top at Christmas, all for nothing if they cant limp over the line.
this will be a draw though.
This game is make or break I feel - if the team go out there with a fire in their belly and give it their best shot then we may have a chance of still going up. But if they continue where they left off in the second half at Port Vale then we don’t.
On a rare positive…
Those crossed foals have come from under lapping outside centre half runs. That’s his position.
The exact same as Taylor Allen as the left hand side centre half. Loads of goals have come from that being in our arsenal.
That’s why I find it bonkers we have two of the best outside centre halves in the division…. Playing as 8s. Mad.
I’d start with
Simkin
McEntee, Williams, Allen
Barrett, Stirk, Chang, Gordon
Jellis
Harrison, Matt
Subs
Hornby, Daniels, Adomah, Lakin, Levi, Wheatly, DJ
Yep not far off our strongest 11 that in the 352. I’d think about Hall for Jellis, and Levi for Matt but otherwise agree.
Just a quick one from me. I can see us shithousing a 2-1 win tomorrow.
With Newport and Crewe sold out. I just want to say how proud i am of our support this season.
Bloody incredible
I’d play 3-4-1-2 just to mix things up.
3-5-2 hasn’t worked for weeks, we need a plan B.
I’d forgotten about Hall. Perhaps on the bench, most probably for DJ!
He’s been a bit of a victim to his versatility - the old phil neville conundrum!
Agreed that his mentality is top!
Agreed. I hope he stays with us next season and beyond.
As Mat Sadlers beloved Maroon 5 once famously sung:
It’s not always rainbows and butterflies,
It’s compromise,
It moves us along…
I hope he heeds their wise words tomorrow
He would probably make a decent wing back, he has energy to burn.
He not good enough on the ball for a central role, his passing is awful
