The first impression walking to the ground last night was how run down the area is
It doesn’t help with all the rubbish which adds to the appearance of a craphole.
It’s one of the most deprived areas in the whole country, I am relived that as far as I am aware all of our supporters came home safely and there was no significant trouble or incidents.
If they even go that is.
I grew up on the Broadway (yeah posh) and went to Blue Coat. Out of all my mates that either lived in Gility/ Park Hall/ Highgate or even went to my school, there are 2 Walsall fans (inc me). The rest were Villa fans who never went and still dont go. Yet talk about Villa like they go to every game, when in fact, Ive probably been to more Villa games than they have.
I’m from a similar area, and likewise out of our year c100, off the top of my head there were about 7/8 Walsall fans.
I’m in Brean at the moment and my wife and I are walking down the road with this couple and we’re talking about this and that and he said where are you from and I said Walsall and he stopped in his tracks and said bloody hell your team beat we last night and he was so upset he was going on about how good we was and said keep it up and you’ll be playing us next season, which I thought was a bit patronising so I don’t think he has much hope of Blues going up.
That was a weird night. As I say, we only had around a hundred but they wouldn’t serve ale in the ground because of the state of some of us.
I was working in Manchester, left work at about 3pm and drank in some Rochdale working man’s club all evening. Our lot who came up on the train had been out in Manchester all day. I went with a Man Utd work pal who couldn’t quite believe it. I think we lost. Bowesy was bellowing wisdom in his discrete way all game and the Bury fan got very short shrift. One of those “did I dream it” evenings.
Early doors for an “I told you so”.
I remember typing the same a few weeks into Keates’s season in charge - stuff like “identity”. Went to shit quite quickly. Ditto start of the Flynn era.
Hopefully it won’t this time. In fact I believe that this lot are are better equipped for the task in hand than either of those squads.
Oh - and everybody on here will believe they are right and have been right all along. Including me. I’ll just keep quiet on the stuff I was wrong about. Like we do.
I’ve never been bothered by Blues fans but this game has put them near the top of my hatred list.
They are completely rattled. Proper weird fan base.
Never thought we’d miss Hutchinson, but I’m not here to brag
Another win. Great habit.
What we are seeing this season is us putting value on metrics that win games. We look organised, we look like a team with a plan. we play to our strengths
Whilst there is something about Sadler that makes him hard to like, winning is good. Glad he used the summer well. Glad he got in these late recruits.
What would top this off now is DJ getting fit and finding the net. We don’t need it the others look great but what a good story it would be
Yes.
Just as when Wolves beat Man City they
became the best team in uk.
How long before him and his fanboys come crawling back?
I am not surprised at your comment about MS but I rather like the guy. He is certainly more relaxed now in interviews and his sense of humour is beginning to be seen. He was very good at fans meeting last season.
Living on the Pheasey isn’t particularly enjoyable when Villa are doing well…90% Villa. Most of the claiming ‘little’ Walsall is their second club, which they ignorantly don’t appreciate how patronising that sounds!
I’m trying to find something I’ve been wrong about
Agreed….it was tongue in cheek of course….but I have been consistent since April 2023 on this one and that’s despite some pretty heavy pressure to crumble….all I’ve ever said is the process takes time and the pitch is the last / final place you’ll see the evidence of it….for now, my point was / is, that people are now just starting to see evidence of something happening…
No club should ever miss an individual that they’ve had an entire summer window to prepare with. The sum of the parts should always….always be bigger than the level of the individual…something else I’ve been consistent with particularly around the DJ issue for example.
I realise your tongue was a little in cheek too
Their heads have gone!
For their equaliser they reacted like they had drawn level in the last minute of a Championship League final!
Rattled by Walsall in a so called ‘pointless cup competition’.
It was Pal
From reading there fans forum and listing to Davies there manager they see to be consoling themselves in the fact they drew the game and took a point after 90mins and don’t really want to talk about the penalty shoot out and the fact we won the tie with an extra point there manager gave an interview and mentioned Walsall once “we defended our box well “very gracious .really niffed that they failed miserably against a well organised and team performance by we .the stand out out individual performances were all Walsall players and I think anyone watching that game last night would agree with that .
