Birmingham (A) - FL Trophy - Tuesday 3rd September 7.45pm

Absolutely agree with you. I listened to their manager post match and he talked about how they were below par but never seemed to consider how the saddlers were well organised, fought for every ball defending with their lives.
How we stifled them and broke quickly and never once let our heads drop.

I agree how they performed was entirely down to the way Walsall went about the task .for him to not give us the credit for that was very ingenuous of him .came across as a bit of an arse to be honest .

With the Blues manager I get Matt Taylor vibes, youth academy background trying to perform the same way in men’s football. We all know how that worked out for us and Shrewsbury.
However Blues have the advantage of a 30 million squad so hopefully for them their on field decisions will be better. Yet I feel like a lot of youth teams they lack that midfield anchor who can physically bully opposition midfields.

I think Blues will go up this year - they looked a good side and dominated us in the latter stages of the match - as good as we played they deserved their equaliser.

I hope Blues go up anyway - as if their manager gets sacked I can see Matt Sadler on their shortlist of replacements if our good form continues…

Tbf he can hardly come out and say we couldn’t break down a walsall side full of freebies when he’s got a 30m squad. You dress it up and move on.

I don’t have much time for disingenuous managers, say something nice about the opposition even if they were terrible.
I remember Harry Redknapp calling us a Ist division club after playing them years ago. We were in
He was always very complimentary about the opponents he faced, especially after he’d beaten them!
Nice man, Harry.

Tbf though Blues were a country mile ahead of Huddersfield and Exeter and so they should be what they have spent. Pretty funny online as Stockport think they can compete with them there fans are worse than Wrexhams or Blues for billy big bollocks syndrome honesty :rofl:

Down to earth Blues fan who did a watch along, complimentary about us at the end even saying we deserved the result.

Did you sit through that?

No.

To be honest mate there’s massive blues fans on my daughters husbands family side you don’t get more blues than they are 60 years as shown here on his birthday of supporting .had nothing but great comments on Walsall’s display the other night all very complimentary.from his entire family.

What are the rules around team selection for the FL Trophy?
How many players have to feature in the previous league game?
How many changes can we make against Fulham?

I’m thinking that:
Hornby, Weir, Maher, DJ, Cleary, Earing, Adomah will all start.

But it also means
Okagbue, Williams, Allen or Gordon, and Stirk (unless Comley fit) will have to play again.

'Full Available Strength’ means the EFL Club must include at least four Qualifying Players
in the ten outfield Players named in the starting eleven on the Team Sheet.

7.4 Qualifying Player means any Player who:
7.4.1 had started the immediately preceding First Team Fixture (as defined below);
7.4.2 subsequently starts the immediately following First Team Fixture;
7.4.3 is in the list of ten Players at the Club with the highest number of starting
appearances in First Team Fixtures in the same Season;
7.4.4 has made forty or more starting appearances in First Team Fixtures or international
equivalents (and not limited to the same Club or Season); or
7.4.5 is on standard loan from a Premier League Club or any EFL Club operating a
Category One Academy.
7.5 First Team Fixture means the League Competition, Premier League, EFL Cup or FA
Challenge Cup (but shall, in the context of Rules 7.4.3 and 7.4.4 only, also include this
Competition).
7.6 Any EFL Club failing to meet the requirement to play Full Available Strength will be required
to pay a fine of up to £5,000.

7.4.2 is a bit odd. How could you possibly know? he might get injured.

I suspect we shall see Gordon, two of the three centre-backs and Lowe start as the 4, although there might be more. If he really wants to rest players then Hornby might miss out.

Agree about the rest.
