But she was looking forward to going, poor girl, she will have to miss out based on this advice KingCrod…
Can i bring my wooden rattle or will that be classed as an offensive weapon
Just be careful not to throw ya flat cap too high when we score or you’ll never see it again, still you can wave ya hankie, pesky peaky blinders.
Over 750 sold now for us
It’s a rum do when a chap (or chapess) can’t openly display their team’s favours due to the risk of violence from ne’er do wells and ruffians.
Absolute Cads and Mountebanks some of them, or so I’ve been told.
If your distaste for the presence of U21 teams means that you would not enjoy attending these matches, then your decision not to go obviously makes sense.
On the other hand if, like me, you always want to see Walsall play and look forward to supporting them whenever possible, then by boycotting the matches you would be cutting off your nose to spite your face by making a futile gesture.
It is not immoral or unethical to attend these matches, and whether or not we attend will have no impact on the future of football. Perhaps if there were an organised boycott and demonstration against this format then that might have some effect, but that seems very unlikely. What is certain is that an individual fan deciding not to attend will make no difference.
Even as late as the 90s it was iffy. Saw a black cab turned over there for the driver having the temerity to take some bag ladies to the ground.
An old guy a few feet away from us, got hit on the top of his head with one. Went down like a ton of bricks with blood flowing.
Real scary for me as a young kid. I can remember it like it was yesterday.
I had the privilage of going to the Blues Villa game when Enckelman let the ball roll under his foot… The atmosphere that night was something else, Blues really do not like the Villa do they
They’re all moaning on the Blues forum (with some foundation too I think) that the tickets for their end are released on a block by block basis there’s about 20 tickets available at the moment all over the place in one block so you cant buy several together, alot of singles etc.
I know they will want to concentrate fans to reduce stewarding/catering costs but you’d imagine there would be a decent walk up audience as well and they’d have a few more blocks available. Apparently earlier they’d sold out with no more blocks made available for a while.
I remember going to a Blues-Villa game, sometime in the late 70’s.
I worked in Brum and went with Blues supporting workmates.
After an eventful walk down the Coventry Road, fortunately unscathed, due to the prominence of my workmates colours, we neared the ground.
A large brawl broke out close by, there was all sorts of missiles flying around and my mate suddenly said he’d been hit, he was holding the back of his head and said (with a lot of expletives) he was bleeding badly, said he could feel the warm blood in his fingers. Real panic in his voice.
It was gloomy and we couldn’t see, so we ushered him over to where it was better lit.
The evidence was clear, he had been hit by a meat pie. The blood turned out to be warm gravy, made a bit of a mess of his hair and collar…
Blues will go very strong tonight with no game Saturday and having such a big squad anyway. I’m expecting 2-0 or 3-0 to them tonight and if that’s the case then fine, we’ve had a great start to the season. I’d rather we got points at mk dons that win tonight personally.
Steak & kidney or mince & onion?
Agree with this - I’ve got no expectations for tonight. Also a competition that has been devalued further by allowing U23 teams to play. Not going to say I wouldn’t like a trip to Wembley though - but that’s a long way down the line.
So lets just enjoy tonight. UTS.
This isn’t intended in a disparaging manner but I would be interested to know if we did hypothetically make it to the final of this competition this season, would those same boycotters stay firm on their values/morals and boycott the trip to Wembley too?
Wasn’t called Ernie by any chance was he?
His first name was Ryszard.
The Polish version of Richard.
We used to call him Dick, especially after that incident
Got to admit I’ve always found Blues fans alright.
Obviously everyone has different experiences. Several times over the years I’ve walked into situations in bars and trains etc with some of their, shall we say, more renowned followers, and have had nothing but a good laugh, banter, and even a feeling of camaraderie. Always thought it was the shared ancestor of self-deprecating humour that did it, but then again…if you’ve had a slate bounced off your nut I guess you’d have a different opinion.
I’m the same. If walsall didn’t exist I would most likely follow blues ( sucker for punishment ) rather than any of the other local dog heads.
