Here’s a Walsall bloke who’s just bagged a few spare quid.
Harpin is from Huddersfield
Is he? So he was just based in Walsall when he started the company then?
Either way, he might fancy bunging in a few quid to his adopted home town.
Brought up in Newcastle. Lived in Harrogate for 20 odd years. Used to fly from Harrogate to Walsall on a regular basis in his helicopter.
He sold £60-70m worth of equity in Homeserve 10-15 years ago. Therefore, you can assume he has no interest in buying Walsall FC.
According to the last published accounts (for 2021) Richard Harpin personally owned 40,790,0030 shares in homeserve plc.
At the buyout price of £12.00 each that gives him a windfall of £489,480,360
That’s in addition to any wealth he already had.
I’m sure he wouldn’t even notice a 6 or 7million pound investment in a football ground.
Fair point
But none of us wanted Graydon, Money or Smith all considered cheap options.
Truth is Jeff in the main (or perhaps Paul Taylor) did his homework on appointments
I dont think Money was unwanted, infact his pedigree suggested he was a great appointment, as he proved to be.
Probably the only one with any sort of track record that came out of the club unscathed in the last 30 years or more though, the rest have been lucky appointments.
I don’t think Fullerton was. Most people were at least patient about the appointment, even if they were optimistic. Some were delighted we finally had a DOF
I didn’t want Fullarton from the beginning. His record as a manager wasn’t good and his reputation worse.
Fair enough, but it was mostly positive:
