Tend to agree. Below zero forecast for every night from Monday so game must be in doubt already and then be at least 2 1/2 weeks between league games.
I think it was 1981 when we were second at the start of December, didnt play for weeks and ended staying up on the last game of the season.
The league have to do more to get these games to go ahead when they are set. I understand the clubs have limited resources and money, but it’s in the leagues interests to help them get the games on.
We live in a world where a premier league game barely gets called off, almost certainly not for pitch condition. It shows the technology is there, it just obviously isn’t available to all league clubs.
3 tickets for us yesterday, two for people that almost certainly won’t be able to make the rearranged fixture. Money back is one thing, but I genuinely believe stuff like this hurts the league.
I was thinking the same, heated dome over the pitch would solve the problem.
It can’t be that hard surely!
Apologies as typing from Spain returning tomorrow and noticed that NO games in Scotland called off and i thought it was worse weather up there
Artificial pitches are widespread there, especially in the lower leagues, so they’re much less likely to get called off these days.
Was looking forward to this one although I’m not a fan of 1230 kick offs. The players can at least get a well deserved break and hopefully we can look forward to getting our eighth straight win when we play Tranmere.
We could grow to Tomatoes in the close season for extra income .
Don’t mind Tranmere at home being the opportunity for win 8 of 8
The League of Greed has a rule (K.22) whereby all stadia must have under soil heating.
Last season Luton were granted special dispensation due to not having enough time to install it.
The EFL has no such ruling but maybe there’s an opportunity here for them to force clubs to invest in adequate pitch protection…
The mistress is never an easy place to go, especially this time of year in frozen conditions when it’s easy to pick up a strain. Safety is paramount in these situations.
I would advise any visitors to keep their colours hidden.
You should state that wasn’t today though …
And when entering the impressive arena?
Postponed…ahh no but what if we are overtaken at the top of the lea…ahh, nevermind
DM me if you need one gone for the rearranged fixture.
Adopt a belt and braces approach.
It costs an absolute fortune to heat a pitch with under pitch heating. Sometimes if it’s a really cold spell they have to have it on for a few days. It costs a fortune to heat a house these days with the price of electricity and gas. With smaller clubs like us it would probably cost more to heat the pitch than the gate money we take.
I’m sure this was discussed here last year and people came to the same conclusion.
Think club will do everything they can to get it on to keep our momentum and we’re much better on Saturdays
Probably won’t be as many there for the rearranged fixture, but if it gets put back to March, could still be a fair few heading down on a Tuesday night as it’s not that far away.
I’ve only ever done a handful of midweek away games, but will try and get to this.
