What a difference the last 24 hours have made to this post.
Win lose or draw, I’m genuinely intrigued by this now and am looking forward to watching it. Dutton obviously hasn’t had time to put anything concrete of his own in place but I think the team selection will be fascinating, as will be the way they line up.
I don’t expect any discernible change in style but those factors alone will be interesting to see. Normally you’d say to a short notice manager “just pick the same team for now” But we haven’t had that in nearly two years so why change the habit, he may as well pick who he wants.
Having said all of that … I expect a heavy Cheltenham win. But expecting a heavy winner at Cheltenham has cost me a fortune in the past so fingers crossed I’m off the mark this time as well.
If he’s fit I wouldn’t mind seeing Wright given a go as a striker with Nolan continuing on the wing, that way getting both of them on the pitch rather than either or. He’s played there before and is a good finisher. Definitely Rose in goal. A positive performance, and dare I say a win tonight against such a strong side that we couldn’t live with in 3 projects might just change the momentum of the season from aimless drift to something a bit better. Incredible that a win tonight puts us 5 points behind them, and they’re 3rd!
More a case for me of formation rather than personnel.
Is there a consistent strategy which , for the most part, will be adhered to? Or are we going to continue being “flexible” and changing our shape, so no one has a clue what they are supposed to be doing?
Not happy about Dutton being given the reins for the rest of the season…he’s DC’s cronie, if he had any imput during DC’s abhorent tenure then we saw very little of it.
If he intends to follow DC up to Burslem in the summer then tell LP now, don’t defer the inevitable any longer, put Sadler in charge.
Look forward to the team selection tonight, will he use DC’s hat or does he have ideas about playing football, attacking, ball on the ground instead of ‘hoof’, will he try some youngsters?
We’ll see, I expect a clone of DC both in team selection, style and play…so come on Dutton prove us wrong…
His comments would suggest not but then this is worsul we are talking about here!
LP was very keen to emphasise how different dutton is to mr ‘knobhead throw a hissy fit’ Clarke so I am hoping to see some changes even though he hasn’t had much time before tonight. Sounds like he is a man with his own ideas even if they have been quashed under DC (no surprise).
I would like to see some one else up front - derrick or jayden rather than lavery then wes and tyriek either side of that central striker or on the flanks of the 3 behind him with Josh in the middle of that three. Vincent and kinsella / bates behind that with Perry on bench for sure. Rose in goal defo.
