Chesterfield (A) - League & playoff away leg

Next goal is massive.
We are either going to be in dreamland or squeaky bum time.

Lets have a boring nil nil

Y’know what?
The management team have got us into pole position in the playoffs. The trajectory has been, ahem, somewhat unconventional, bizarre even. I’m certain that they would have received much more approbation had they done so in a more prosaic manner but we’re there, in with a chance. And we would all have snatched hands (and other parts of the anatomy) off for this at the start of the season.

I don’t want to see or hear that phrase.

I’m as chuffed as a chuffed person from chuffsville but there is something so wrong about that phrase.

Still a long way to go but bloody hell, what a result today.

That’s what I’d probably say in your position, safe journey, Up The Saddlers :+1:

I loved the way we shut their crowd up today. They really thought they were going to do us. Spoke to a Chesterfield fan in the chippy before the game. Condescending prick he was.

They ended up sitting there like miserable people most of the game. Let’s hope it is the same on Friday night.

Come on you Saddlers.

I cracked a smile today, it’s been a while!

Tell her you need a couple of weeks to think about it .

If he was so great at Point 1 we wouldn’t be in the playoffs.

He got it right today and credit where it’s due, but doesn’t wash away a monumental cockup over the past few months.

You serious

The blokes made history with the most disastrous collapse.

The least he can do us clear up his own mess.

Absolutely loved that today

Very professional performance from every player

Pleased with the subs (would have liked Jamma replaced maybe 10mins earlier)

Crowd were completely amazing - the noise from 1,000 saddlers felt incredible in the stadium

Let’s finish the job Friday lads and pack the Bescot

A proper Walsall away day.
Kudos to the squad and to the fans.
Nice to see lots of young fans there.
It made me think that if we get to Wembley it will be a great day for them all.
Whilst I remember our seemingly regular ‘Fights against Promotion’ and have built up lots of angst, over the years, which comes to the fore when we find ourselves on the verge of achieving something, I have to acknowledge that younger minds don’t necessarily carry all that emotional luggage and the cynicism which often accompanies it.
I think they would be able to enjoy a day at Wembley with Walsall without the dread that many of us have engrained on our souls.
For their sake, I hope we can do it

It’s only half time but I’m still buzzing from that today. We need to get the job done on Friday then one more game….

Great fantastic away day. Proper play off game as well. For the first time in months I’m so proud of each and every one of the players and the coaching staff. Did a proper job on Chesterfield today. And regarding that ref, he reffed the Bradford game last week. Onto Friday. It’s only HT still got another 90 minutes (hopefully) to reach Wembley

As I was walking to the ground a couple of their fans said to me “hey pal you are going to get hammered “ wish I could have met them on the way back to my car.

Posted elsewhere by mistake - Have to say a word too for Stirk - I’ve given him a hard time last few months but he looked much more composed today and passed more confidently..

A fantastic performance today. Players understanding and competently executing their roles. We all know that a couple of weeks ago if we had performed that way, the flip flops would have been on. It is what it is and we really do need to drive home this advantage. We have, potentially, two games to rescue our deserved promotion. No holding back. Pride, passion and energy!

Chang gives Stirk the opportunity to play in the opposition half, facing their goal. He becomes far more effective that way.

Simpkin public enemy no 1 on chesterfield forum there right upset at his injury stoppages .what I don’t understand it’s obvious these injuries are to stop the momentum and have a tactical chat .why does it always have to be Simpkin who gets the flak from the fans and it’ becomes pretty obvious to the ref as well .surely we could be a bit cuter and use other players so it don’t look so dam obvious.
