Interesting about the time wasting. I still believe we are the worst team at time wasting I have seen this season. We just lamp the ball forward and give possession straight back. Players rarely go down with fake injuries, or any extreme time wasting tactics, knowing full well all of the time won’t be added on (think Crewe at Walsall this season for example)
Came across this as I’ve been nursing my head this morning, if you skip the talking and fast forwards to when he’s in the ground it shows some absolutely brilliant coverage of our fans having a whale of a time opposite him.And when the penalty is dispatched the noise from our fans is so good just so so good.
Shut up man! Milan was right behind me and he was singing and getting involved all through the game.
You’re right, some great shots of Walsall fans on there. The support was superb, again.
I just love our response to teams singing “top of the league and you effed it up” just to sing it straight back at them, it’s so Walsall that.
Not really the point he was making, though, is it?
We went in the chippy close to the ground and as we left to walk to the ground, my lad said, that’s Jackson Smith sitting on the bench there. I said "don’t be daft.
I don’t have anything against Milan, or any player really but there were lifelong Walsall fans so desperate for a ticket they were offering silly money for one. I’d rather one of those were there singing instead.
It’s a forum, people have differing opinions. It happens.
To be honest Milan stood next to me with his mates and was engaged as much as any fan and even shared a high five upon the second goal, and talking football about our press etc
But tbh if I had missed out and found out player privileges for ex players had took my spot I’d be gutted
Oh he’s going to be there Friday too
Yeah, that is the point I was making.
I have nothing against him, it is nice that he wanted to come along to support.
In these specific circumstances where so many Walsall fans wanted a ticket, well as you said, I’d have been gutted if I was one of the ones that missed out.
First 20mins thought Chesterfield looked good but we grew into it. Took our chances well. Second half we really shut them down well. Good defending. Subs did well gave us fresh legs. Shape helped vs their formation and way of play. Shout outs for Simkin, Big Dave, Williams, Chang and Hall. Hope Chang is back for Friday!
I think the Club should do a t-shirt - if we were to win the Play-Offs.
I’d already thought about having a word to get ISSA to do one, but god knows what the reaction would be.
It’s just typical Walsall gallows humour to me.
I dont like it to be honest, but most seem to and I suppose it is a response to it being sung by others to which there’s no reply. I just dont want any negativity till the end of the season lol
I think that is it though. It isn’t meant to be negative. It’s a very Walsall thing, sometimes all you can do is laugh because the reality is so painful. Our lot have always been that way.
I get the point you are making, I’d hope the players and staff would understand, but maybe not.
I think it’s great as a riposte to the opposition fans.
Hopefully the players are living in the moment and looking to the future.
I know mate. Anyway not going to matter in grand scheme of things it can be dealt with later, we’re going up!!!
It’s a very British thing. The best thing about being British is the ability to laugh at ourselves and the ability to take the pee out of each other/oursleves. Something we’re losing in society. It’s a brilliant response and it silenced chesterfield every time.
I preffered the “Top of the league and we’re 2-0 up” chant
Great video, we were in great form, sounded more like 1,500 than 1,000 away spectators. To be fair their support was excellent until we scored, a proper cauldron of an atmosphere. Anyone with tickets for the return leg I hope will raise the roof for Mat and the boys and get us over the line.
People, including me, were worried until the penalty. Given what’s happened over the past three months, it’s hardly surprising. It’s easy to forget now how that penalty changed the course of the game. They never had the same grip on midfield afterwards, and we looked the team we been earlier in the season. By coincidence, it must have been at the same point in the half that we went the other way in the Vale game- the last time we looked like we still had this.
I disagree. I thought it was poor given all the hype they gave themselves.
