Great 2nd half come back by the lads and a much needed, grateful three points.
Everyone played their hearts out to thoroughly deserve the victory.
Chesterfield looked dangerous when they attacked but we defended resolutely and didn’t allow them in.
OS is a much better defender than in midfield, he played well today. Good games from the two new strikers who managed to get on the scoresheet, well done to them.
I can breathe a little easier tonight (it’s noon here) knowing we have a healthy lead on top of the table.

Me too! It means a lot because we care about our home town team. It transcends football - Walsall is in my blood. It’s a pretty shitty town with not much going for it, but it’s our shitty town. We don’t get much to shout about - this season has given us all hope. When it looked like that was going to be taken away from us, it brought back a lot of bad memories. You can’t blame us for suddenly getting the jitters. But today is a vital win for us - it would have really knocked the players’ and the fans’ confidence if we had lost. Fair play to Mat and the boys, I should never have doubted you. Automatic promotion looks very likely now, but let’s go up as champions- we all deserve that! UTS.

Great win. All teams go through rubbish phases, those 5 games were ours.

Also walsall losing certain posters all over this forum, walsall winning goes quiet

Such a relief :relieved:

Fantastic second half, much more of the team we’re used to seeing.

Four points from the last three looks like an ok return now when you look at it.

6 to go, we’ve got this.

The state of comments on here😂

Anyway thought it was a similar performance to our last couple of home games v Salford and Gills. Just got the run of the green today, plus Chesterfiekds style suited us.

We are going up

What are you referring to?

The noise when the third hit the net was fantastic. Definitely a lot of relief outpouring in that celebration.

The ref who went off would have definitely blown for a foul for the 2nd goal (I think) corner. Let some stuff go where as the first ref was blowing for everything and anything.

And back to those 15 minutes after half time being deadly.

How did McEntee do when he came on? Did he play in the centre of the back three? He might be needed for a few games.

Just a few before we scored We’ve blown it Sadler is useless etc

Played on the right, Okagbue in the centre. They were very good imo but helped the old midfield press burst back into life.

Probably a bit reactionary, but we had gone one nil down after not winning in five, three of which we lost.

I’ll never understand Walsall fans digging each other out for being passionate or fearing the worst to be honest.

I love football and I love being wrong.I have absolutely no idea where that second half performance came from but we were brilliant.Ellis Harrison was my personal MOTM.

Okagbue is better in the centre - he can get caught out of position on the right. Let’s just win the next two, and get to 70 points asap….then 80 and then hopefully we can all start to relax.
