Chris Hussey Retires

Especially one who wouldn’t even constitute a barnacle on the side of the history of Walsall FC :see_no_evil:

It’s not ‘out of the blue’ though is it.

Joe Foulkes retiring would be out of the blue.

Look I understand what’s happened and I’m really not that bothered. Fact is though that Hussey really hasn’t treated Walsall fc very well and Walsall look a (little) bit daft

It’s because people have different opinions about it and want to prevent something similar happening again.

But to our knowledge it is. So we have to assume that to the clubs knowledge it is also, which is a point I did add.

We don’t have inside knowledge but I do t think for one second Chris Hussey signed a one year contract to be a pro footballer as a back up in case his real passion did or didn’t come to fruition within that time. It’s ridiculous to suggest he did.

It’s also ridiculous to be adamant your perspective on this being correct, when you state that no one knows what the situation really is.

But he did then sign the one year contract, which to my mind means he should forego other opportunities. If he wanted to keep his options open he should have said I want a week by week deal.

No it’s not at all. I feel im correct in saying that those are the only really pertinent questions given the knowledge we have.

Which comes back to the first question and his families security.

In which case, I feel that you and el nombre are both different internet message board personas of the same person.

There are striking similarities between how you structure posts, your arrogant, dismissive, and hectoring tone, and the way you have to have the final word.

I feel this is correct, ergo it is.

It’s not unreasonable on UpTheSaddler’s for people to view this through the lens of how does this affect the club and how does it benefit us. Perhaps someone should start UpTheChrisHussey for alternative viewpoints!

I’m not that bothered that he’s called time on his football career but can understand why it will annoy many supporters.
It’s done and there’s nothing any of us can do about it.
The important question now is how the team will be adjusted to deal with the situation and of course there’s the small matter of Swindon coming up.

They do though to be fair, it’s in the statement. A bloke walked out of a contract he signed two months ago for 12 months cos he found something he fancied more :joy: end of context.

People can make out he’d be plotless for the rest of his life all they want, it’s just bollocks and irrelevant.

Reminds us all about how FGR took us for fools for taking on Matt (full time) and Stevens part time under Super Flynn, it does appear that we have become a laughing stock over a number of years, lets hope that all comes to an end soon.
As someone else has mentioned, a little matter of free scoring Swindon coming up shortly, wonder if Matt makes ‘the cut’ over DJ again?
Hussey gone…move on…nothing to see here…

And there was me thinking that Flynn had made those decisions…

I did say that, but at the end of the day it’s still a Walsall F.C. decision!

I can’t do anymore than say “I bow to your superior knowledge” but if it helps, you’re right….you know more than me….I’m sorry….i was wrong

I think you’ll find the answer to that question in post 210, so eloquently explained by Mel58 :+1:

If you’re a grown man with a family who is given a chance now to start a new career that could provide for that family for the rest of your life, you’ll take it.

Not a chance the remainder of an existing one year contract - at his age and in a career with no guarantees of future income from the game - would trump that.

You’d be a shit husband and father if you didn’t grasp that new chance. All that matters is providing for them, not just now but securing your life best you can for the coming years.

A new day and people are still questioning a man, close to retirement/the football scrapheap, changing careers for something which will have more longevity to it creating more financial security for him, his wife and his children.

Christ.
