Following confirmation of the club’s relegation to League Two, the Walsall FC Board of Directors would like to place on record our disappointment and apologise to all associated with the Club, most importantly our supporters.
We started the season with a 10-match unbeaten run in all competitions and occupied fifth place at the beginning of October. But a significant downturn in results led to the departure of manager Dean Keates in March and has culminated in relegation after 12 years in League One.
We understand the fans’ frustrations and acknowledge relegation is not an acceptable outcome for the season. We too are deeply hurt by what has happened.
Focus will now turn to the short and medium term, with the key priorities being rebuilding the Club’s football philosophy and the search for a manager to drive us forward and back into League One as swiftly as possible.
“Focus will now turn to the short and medium term”.
As opposed to just the short term
Not worth the ‘paper’ it was written on. This club needs gutting and a serious re-evaluation of where this football club is going. It is going to take time, effort but most importantly investment led by football people who understand how to run a successful football club. Time to grab the bull by the horns. This really could be last chance saloon.

Keates was sacked in April, not March! They couldn’t even get that right…

I’m surprised that they didn’t add pride of the Midlands somewhere.
Been coming for some time , chickens had to come home to roost eventually.

What a load of BS. Mealy-mouthed words from a bunch of spineless, gutless hypocrites. Our number one fan and saviour still cashes in his £400k every year whatever division we are in. Get that leech out of our club now. Get the whole lot out.

"rebuilding the Club’s football philosophy " FFS.
Makes it sound like there’s a grand plan, which a new manager will have to buy into, a la Ajax.

There is a grand plan - £400k a year to Uncle Jeff. Everything else is irrelevant.

Oh, it can be done in a moment. Just replace ‘return to the Championship’ with ‘return to the League One’. And new shining philosophy is ready. Since last Championship game, team second time will play in the League Two.
You don’t say! It’s just repeating blatant obvious things.
