Excellent day so far , excellent performance and currently enjoying a bite to eat and a few pints in the Soho tavern ( fullbrook). very nice.

Fleetwood will be a big test.

At least we were top for an hour

This squad has turned out to be something really special this season. I can’t see a weakness anywhere. A tough first 30.mimutes, but the character of this side stood firm, soaked up all the bullying and dirty tactics by Colchester, and then hit them where it really hurt.

Not knocking Jamma or Lakin, far from it, but the subs made a massive difference for us. Them losing Edwards early into the second half was a blessing for us as he had been a constant danger all through the first half.

On to Fleetwood Tuesday. Scared to start believing just yet, a long way still to go

Some Colchester fans are bitter. These are 2 comments from the Walsall FC Facebook page

Is that all? How embarrassing

2 of your goals were offside

A comprehensive lunchtime romp, something I have enjoyed many times before but never at the Bescot.

Colchester decent and dangerous but we have quality everywhere. Lowe and Matt worked them then Adomah and Earing destroyed them.

Simkin - no save to make but did what was needed
Back 4 - great. Allen a bit wayward but Barrett and Williams solid and Dave found a way to keep a tricky N9 quiet.
Larkin good
Stirk - wins the ball, finds a man. Like Keats but quicker
Gordon - good. Crossing average
Matt - kept them busy and mostly won his battles Lowe - strong skillful quick
Earning - such a quality player to bring on
Adomah - always has time. Lovely.
The way we always got a foot in during 4 goalmouth scrambles was superb.
Very quick transition from defence to attack
Hung in for the 1st 10min under siege and 5/6 needless errors but cruised second half

Jellis - non league last year, now looks totally at home in L2, lovely take down and finish

They pushed us hard for 30 minutes but our goal changed things for the better. A dominant second half followed and the strength of the squad was shown when Earing and Adomah came on to finish them off. A good win over a decent team. Well refereed too…

Need Barrow to get a goal back.

Most impressive thing for me was that I still think we had a couple gears to go up into, and yet still won 4-0.

I will happily eat every doubt I’ve had of Sadler. What he has done is incredible.

Get new contacts in front of Stirk and Williams ASAP.

Does Mrs. Crod know about this?

She was romping at the same time, although not necessarily in the same place.

That 1st goal was the key. They had the better of the 1st half without really troubling Simkin, and given our inability to pass to each other it was a real sucker punch for them to go in 1-0 down. It also meant the game would open up more as they needed to do something to get back into it.

Sadler got the subs spot on that really helped turn the game. We will be lucky to keep Connor Barrett here for the duration of his contract, and to think some people wanted to keep Knowles

Make no bones about it, after the first 30 mins that would have been a game we would have lost in seasons gone by. The fact we kind of ground out a 4-0 shows what this team is capable of.

Onto Tuesday.
