Listened to the match commentary while hiking in the Yorkshire Dales. 4g was pretty flakey but I managed to get all the goals in.
To be honest. It didn’t sound like a 4-0 game but as a few on here have said, the way we’re playing, if things go our way we’re gonna hammer someone.
Col U on top early on but I don’t recall many good chances for them.
Watched the Jellis goal on the highlights and I’m surprised the defenders didn’t do better there but credit to Jamie as he had his back to the ball and still managed to out fox them.
Great subs by Sadler that got us 3 goals. Delighted for Jack Earing as he’s had some rotten luck with injuries.
Really hope we can keep this up and I’m already looking forward to cheering on the lads on Tuesday.
Did anyone see the Colchester fan leisurely walk past the stewards and into the Walsall end?, He confronted my neighbour who was with his sons ,( All grown up tho ).he’s a martial arts instructor so went down to him , before a steward got him away.
Graydon’s play off season would be close but I think after winning the first five of the season (including a 4-0 at Swindon!) I think we drew the next two then lost one. I think that’s the best first 8 games I can remember before this one.
For me, 12 games in is when the league has some credible shape, you’ve played a mix of teams and luck has probably had a chance to even out.
If we’re still 2 points per game or better after 12 then we can begin to get really excited. Though to be fair I’m already pretty giddy!
Matt’s presence offers a huge physical distraction. Teams often double up on him. Which creates space for others. Opposition managers, fans and players often obsess about what Matt is doing or not doing.
The dilemma is whether somebody more nimble and skilful would provide the team with an overall better chance of holding the ball in the attacking third and scoring goals. Matt is also very useful at the other end of the park.
I get the criticism but his contribution shouldn’t be under-estimated either.
I’m not trying to be miserable or stink the place out, cos I am buzzing still. We haven’t played a single team in the current top half yet unless I’ve missed someone. Just saying tougher tests to come.
I still think we are good for automatic promotion though with a little bit of luck. It has the feel of a promotion winning side, I had almost forgotten what it feels like, but this is what it feels like to know you have a genuine chance.
There will probably be a team in the lower reaches that gets it together somewhere between now and the end of Oct, and there will almost certainly be a team in the top 3 now that fall away some time in the New Year.
However, I just don’t get the feeling it will be us, there’s too much depth in the squad, and we can clearly grind out results because our defence is so mean, like under Dosh.
Only thing that could really derail us is a major upheaval.
