I agree. I am trying not to get too carried away, but it is hard not too. We have better players sitting on the bench than we have had on the pitch over the past 5 years.
There are little combinations and partnerships building all over the pitch. I especially like Jellis and Barrett down the right. The togetherness in the team is there for all to see.
We have played teams in rich veins of form, Salford & Colchester. The way we are playing we shouldnāt need to fear anyone i.e Huddersfield Birmingham Leicester
I get what your saying 100% and while the results are going our way and teams not taking first half opportunities against us you canāt argue with the tactics .if results change then we may have to look again Josh being out hasnāt helped the situation for other options .
Thatās the most impressive win of the season so far for me.
Taking into consideration a really intense game on Tuesday, the early kick-off and a Col U side that had a full week of prep, this should give us a lot of confidence moving forward.
They had a very clear game plan of trying to start fast and put us under pressure. Despite the fact they spent pretty much the first ten minutes camped inside our half, we didnāt give them even half a chance at our goal. The way we locked it down in the second half too was so refreshing and it makes it so much easier to get a result when you donāt give up any chances.
Really proud of the team, thereās a great togetherness and Sadler deserves a lot of credit for sticking to his beliefs and building a team in his style.
First half felt like we were lagging from the Leicester game with the misplaced passes and inability to get much going outside our half, however, we didnāt give them a sniff.
Then Jellis takes a ball down like heās going to gently caress it like a lover, turns out and smashes it in.
I think we saw today what may have happened if weād have nailed the penalty against Tranmere.
Second half was very comfortable but needed that second. The defence were brilliant again, as were the attackers for not letting Colchester move forward.
Struggled to get going today yet never looked in danger if that makes sense.
The lad they had on their left called Edwards was there threat and when he was subbed on 50ish minutes the game was only going to go one way, fair play to Barrett too for having to walk a tightrope after picking up that late first half yellow.
Some good performances again from Barrett, Williams, Stirk and Lowe, all 8/10 and the others solid 7s, this team are a real good bunch of lads and credit has to go to Sadler and his staff for assembling them, also Trivela for backing him despite the rumoured budget cuts.
These are the sort of games weād rollover and get battered in the past but not no more, these lads show character and never say die attitude, football is becoming pleasing to watch again.
Happy weekend fellow Saddlers.
