We aint going to win all 8 at home but we aint going to lose all the away games!! It is very much in our hands. Up to us to go and win it.
Id rather we were id be more confident
I seem to recall that Sadler introduced Hall into the midfield at one stage to mix things up before his injury, as he recognised we needed to work the ball between defenders rather than around them using the wingbacks all the time, and we scored a few goals using that system. Surely the Blues and Stoke loanees could do this for us, which would be a Plan B of sorts!
I was there that game and remember that incident well he didn’t take prisoners our Mick .had a great sense of humour also always had a great rapport with the fans in the cowshed
Adomah has some excellent crossing and set up play, shame he’s is put up front so often.
Stirk did not have a rare day off.
Weak link all season.
Shocking challenge on Taylor Allen, that went unpunished.
We absolutely shit the bed after we went 1-0 up and they came straight for us. From our point of view, it was crying out for some experienced heads to come in and steady the ship. That’s where the likes of Daniels are sorely missed and where, in my opinion, we should have looked to add in the window. With some genuine League Two nouse in the side, we would have seen out at least a draw
So the flat tyre lead to Dave leaving the lights on causing a flat battery requiring an AA call out to get the motor running again for Gillingham but we’ve got this.
There is no need to panic we’re still the same class machine that destroyed the rest of the division a few short weeks ago.
We’re still 6 points clear of 2nd , 9 points clear of 4th and 24 points away from 83 points with 17 left to play.
6 wins
6 draws
5 defeats
And the Mean Machine is promoted.
The magic 100 requires a miracle which although I’m an optimist I can’t see the AA help leading to a 17 game unbeaten streak
12 wins
5 draws
0 defeats
However 92 to 95 points - I’ll take that.
We’ve got this , it’s our year . Believe and be Free
That’s bad news! Jumper’s Knee! Can be a long term injury. Classic CB’s problem. Caused by continual wear and tear. No wonder some of our squad look deflated. Could be many are carrying injuries, which we aren’t told about.
Apologies if I repeat what’s been said as I haven’t read the thread, imo Adomah being brought in in front of Levi was a mistake, Taylor Allen (I respect the fact he’s faced the cameras and apologised) was stupid to kick out right in front of the Lino when he’s on a booking, Barrett needs time on the bench.
MS was too quick to make the substitution, we had the momentum and killed it immediately after the goal with that change, Colchester hardly had a sniff the second half, once Matt was removed it fell apart.
This has to be put right Tuesday at home if not then the rot has set in, too many new players fetched in at once upsetting the dressing room maybe ?
Come on lads let’s not throw this away.
Was out yesterday so just catching up and watched the highlights…
Not looking for excuses but pitch looked horrendous (when will the league do something about this - paying spectators deserve better…)
Hard to tell what sort of game it was from the highlights but from what I’ve heard and lots are saying on here we were well below par again…
Lakin took his goal well…
Not sure why the obvious foul on Allen leading to his reaction wasn’t also penalised?
With 1 point from the last 12, winning on Tuesday is vital
How we’re still 6 points clear of second and more importantly, 9 points clear of 4th is incredible given our poor run but sums up the league right now…
11 goals conceded in the past 5 league games is shocking given how good we were…. Surely a striker leaving hasn’t caused that horrendous change in defensive form???
Matt needs a serious ‘plan B’ approach as we’ve been sussed out by everyone we’ve played in the past 4 weeks
I don’t get this “sussed out” theme .It is more simple than that. Some of our better players have lost their form and some are clearly tired. The reason is simple they are young and for some it is their first season at this level .They have played a lot of games due to the cup runs. I think MS must be a little braver in his team selection and give some of the loan players some game time until we can recover our best form. As others have said a mature midfielder would have been ideal in January but we all know how difficult it is to sign players in that window.
But teams have sussed us out (and I admit the reasons for it are various as you suggest…)
Lots of teams have young squads and have played lots of games - and there’s no doubt players have lost form - this is why teams can now prevent us battering em in the second half…
I wouldn’t get hung upon the sussed us out comment - surely its simply a description of what is happening on the pitch (that’s exactly what it looks like when you see us play at the minute…)
Ok…but take our CBs for example. They have played many more games than expected because of the injuries to our more experienced players. It is showing.Williams is not fully fit which is a big blow. That is the point I was seeking to make. If our best players were fully fit and firing no one in this league can live with us. Just look at the results against the top teams.
Clearly we have to get through this spell and this is where the coaching staff earn their pay.
I’m long enough in the tooth to have seen collapses at Walsall over the years, but this one concerns me more because we don’t have experience in defence due to long term injuries. Jamma is great at the other end of the pitch, but he can only play 60 mins on average. Apart from Harrison, all the others are young and/or loanees. This is the old Division 4. It’s full of senior players who know this level inside out, and I fear we are in for a rough couple of months where we can’t get a foothold and will struggle to buy a win.
Tuesday and next Saturday will be massive tests for Sadler and his troops. I hope I’m wrong, and I hope I don’t end up saying I told you so at the end of the season.
Listened on WM. It was interesting that the midfield names of Stirk Jellis Lakin were rarely mentioned apart from Lakin’s goal of course. Gives you a remote feeling that all not well in that area.
Very apparent that Cowley was in the ear complaining to the 4th Official the entire game as the WM reporter kept saying it in the commentary. Strange coincidence that the referee gave Colchester everything and we end up with a batch of bookings. Ironic that our bench get’s bookings for the reaction to a wrong decision (per MS) that leads to a goal and Cowley gets nothing.
I know that sounds like excuses but…….
Lastly for what it’s worth, we badly need to get promoted even just to see the back of really crap badly maintained pitches that are no better than a park pitch imo. Far too many of them in this Division and Colchester is up there with the worst of them.
Essentially, I think we agree and you’re definitely right, some of our lads don’t look anywhere near 100%
However, when you see what other clubs face at this stage of the season, that’s not unusual…
Not giving em any credit or excuse material but apparently Salford have 10 first choice players out of their starting line up since the big loss to City (incl against us…)
I just hope we’ve done the right thing with bringing in so many young loan players in the Jan window….
Has Stirk run over your cat?
