We will see over the remaining games whether it was or not. We recruited well in the Summer and I like the look of most of the January ones too. It is up to the coaching staff to use them to the best advantage.
Well they didn’t yesterday, that is a fact.
I’ll feel better if we can get a win on Tuesday night. The jitters are really creeping in. I’ll be there with my two boys cheering them on no matter what.
With regard to Taylor Allen, I got the impression it was his decision to apologise. I don’t think he was told to.
This game was our least disciplined of the season, with far too much talking back. Allen was fouled but he had no reason to kick out at the player. It’s easy to say in the calm of a Sunday, I know, but we need to cut that out.
The pitch might well have had something to do with the younger players missing out. I don’t suppose it is going to be much better on Tuesday.
Big half dozen games coming up. Minimum 10 points needed and we’ll all feel better. Less than that and we could be getting proper twitchy.
Need to freshen it up on Tuesday. Evan in obviously for tayls.Connor needs a rest and Nathan to come in. Bring H back for dave.Try Chang in midfield. Jamma obvs in if fit with Ellis or DJ(won’t happen the last bit). PS Mat don’t bring Uncs on upfront again, we have a shedload of options now. 2-1 to the reds and a massive boost going into the Chesterfield game
Cool, glad you have cleared that up, you got the next lottery numbers in your crystal ball as well?
Thought we played well against Salford and hoped we were back, but that was very poor.
We looked clueless going forward and can’t stop conceding. A few players seemed frustrated and lacked composure, Allen the prime example. I get the feeling the players are now doubting themselves.
Adomah up front still?! Midfield needs to start providing some creativity.
Please finish the job Walsall. I think I’ll give up football if we blow this.
Been the case pretty much all season barring some healthier wide play, but it was masked or disguised by the fact we had a forward who pretty much landed on everything inside the 18 yard box for 4 months.
Back in November when Sadler decided to play Adomah as a striker against Charlton, even though Matt, DJ and Cleary were available, I described the decision as inept, and got some push-back that Sadler should not be described as inept. But does anyone think it was a good idea?
As for midfield, we have a lack of creativity coming from the middle of midfield because the replacement for Liam Kinsella is simply not good enough. Kinsella at his best was far better than Stirk’s best, and while I agree that after his injury Kinsella was not quite the player he had been before, we have seen too much of Stirk’s mediocrity during the last few matches.
Ah yes, the creative genius that is Liam Kinsella!!
I must agree on Stirk being the midfield weak link
I know, it’s a real puzzler why Cheltenham aren’t top of the league
You do often have opinions that go against the majority often, and that is good, I often agree with your posts.
I can’t agree with your last paragraph though. Stirk is going through a sticky patch I’d agree, he isn’t alone either. He’s been very good on the whole this season though. I can’t for the life of me see how Kinsella not being here, a bloke who probably passed the ball forward a dozen times in all those years at Walsall is giving us a lack of creativity. No, the lack of creativity in the centre is because Sadler prefers workhorses, not flair or vision. Jamie Jellis bridged the gap a lot, even though he is still very much a runner, he plays at both ends of the pitch. His loss of form also hasn’t helped us.
Going to be a cagey atmosphere from the get-go this one I think. Just hope we don’t go 1-0 down as you’re bound to get a loud minority of negativity come from the crowd. We haven’t looked great for the past 4 games so can’t see us getting back to knocking 3 and 4 in again. Heart says a 2-1 win, heads saying a 1-1 draw.
I agree with a lot of your posts…
but this is like listening to something Donald Trump would come out with
Absolute madness, Stirk has been unreal this season.
Having nothing up top destroyed the midfield, it usually does.
Stirk is a fine player.Lost a bit of form lately but that happens. He will soon be back to his best I have no doubt.
Stirky is a fine player who is probably a bit tired and has lost a bit of form just like the team in general atm. I’d give Alfie a chance in that role tomorrow. Gives stirky a chance to reset and a great opportunity for Alfie against an opponent who have been struggling. Nathan could do with an opportunity in place of Connor too.
Yep that’ll be it
We need some of the “No Surrender” attitude over the next few games!!
Has Mat misplaced his Sadler’s Super Special Second-half Sauce?
Even when we were winning, we had some dour 1st halves where we passed it out of play more than to another player. We kept winning for 2 reasons; Our exceptionally stingy defence, and our super 2nd-halves. Both seem to have gone awol of late.
Player confidence is huge. I see no reason this squad can’t get back to winning ways, but for the 1st time this season they’ve got a big mental battle that needs putting to bed asap. Win that and the top spot is still on!
