I saw that and I have no idea why that should be the case. The whole “assist” idea is a bit arbitrary anyway - Liam Gordon got no credit for the OG in the League Cup game - but this one is as clear cut as they come.
Barrett is more of a complete player than Liam Bennett was. We have signed an absolute gem! The struggle could be keeping hold of him. Thank god we put him on a 3 year deal
We put him on a 3 year deal knowing he would be sold before then.
Reading through the thread, quite amusing to see some of the comments regarding Barrett…
I wonder if the likes of Walsallcasual and forgodsakeshot have changed their opinions?
What is Barretts transfer value? £1,000,000 + add ons?
How’s your £100 on Walsall to be relegated looking?
Can’t start a fire
Can’t start a fire without a spark
Con Barretts on fire!
He’ll play the Vale off the park
Not looking too good atm…
This is Walsall, so probably £150k with a sell on that’ll never materialise
We have more astute people running our football club at the moment in trivela we trust
Seems Charlie Lakin is the only regular starter without a song now, although I did hear a few lads singing “Saturday night and I like the way you move, Charlie Lakin” walking out of the ground on Saturday.
That’s the old Walsall
Surely the Kolo Toure song would work okay with Charlie Lakin.
Don’t want to get carried away
But
Could become our greatest ever right back?
Who are the other candidates?
Demetriou and McCarthy did it at a higher level x Barrett is class though and hot on there tail
Sir Christopher Marsh!
Yes, they were both very good for us.
It’s strange because I can think of a host of great left backs
Zigor
Fox
Henry
Even Andy Taylor was solid
But less so right backs.
Evans
Brian Taylor. I think he someone said on here he later won some vote at Preston, presumably as their best full-back, because he surely wouldn’t have beaten Tom Finney otherwise. Tony Macken , his replacement was great defensively, but didn’t have the skill of Taylor or Barrett going forward.
If I remember rightly he was noted one of the top players for the century at Plymouth where he was captain RIP.
