D 0-0 vs Alfreton Town (A) - FA Cup Second Round - Tue 5th Dec, 7:45pm

think they might need some blowers to get it on :grinning: Or maybe we could lend them the fire bins…

They sound confident about getting the game on.

I’m only a 10 minute drive away and not fancying this at all.

Quite a lot of hot air on here at times, perhaps Alfreton could enlist them.

Is there a time for pitch inspection?

Tells you just how much Sadler has lost the confidence of the fans when in the poll above we have us as underdogs in this.

Surely this game has got to be in the gravest of danger?? Temperatures are now forecast to plummet to a bone chilling -5 this evening and will not rise to above freezing until 1pm.

They’ve got the pitch covered in a protective sheeting with constant warm air blowing apparently, according to their sources, perhaps we should loan them our high energy frost busting low maintenance steel braziers that can be placed on the penalty spots, problem solved, Bonso was so ahead of his time.

What about the terraces and surrounds of the arena?? At some point they will need to take the covers off and the temperature at that point is still likely to be below freezing.

F**k me, our defenders look like they are already froze to the spot :joy:

They’ve requested sadler to do a pre match interview where he bobs from side to side stretching his neck and swaying, the hot air emitted should do the trick regarding melting frost on the terraces.

As you have written many times, the health and safety of the players and the spectators is of paramount importance

After surviving the playing surface at Barrow they can leave the covers on we’ll play on top.of it.

Perfect ingredients for a Walsall disaster-class

I can’t imagine the conditions of their undercroft if they have one!

According to the Alfreton website (link below) we are fxxked.

Walsall are in crisis. Their only win in their last 8 outings was a 4-1 victory in the First Round against lowly Sheppey United. The Saddlers have been in freefall in the league and crashed a 2-0 away defeat at Barrow on Tuesday which stretched their winless run in League 2 to six matches with Mat Sadlers side having the worst form in the whole division over the last 8 matches. Simmering discontent at the trajectory of the club has threatened to boil over in some quarters with Sadler coming under increasing pressure from all sides over his future in his first job of his coaching career will be desperate for a victory to ease the pressure somewhat on Saturday

Sadler shouldn’t need a team talk, just hand a copy of this out before the game.

Oof, that’s brutal. Trouble is you can’t really argue with it.

not wrong are they but even they are taking the piss with that, a team that is part-time genuinely believing they are better than us and the worst of it is, they’re probably right. It’s shambolic how low this board have let us fall and trivella are no better. Need a result here otherwise it’ll be toxic

I know it seems daunting but with MS at the helm and our team in magnificent form we can go to Alfreton in good spirits and with a confidence befitting the togetherness of the squad, the hard work put in at Essington and in the safe and certain knowledge that we are building towards a future filled with that warm glow that is only possible due to our strength of character.

I’m looking forward to more exciting front foot football to keep me warm tomorrow.

Can’t wait :see_no_evil:

It’s a worry this game. Getting to the 3rd round of the FA Cup is a big prize, let’s hope we don’t blow it.
