Do you seriously think that there is the structure at the club to counsel him on how to improve? I spent much of my latter days as a teacher developing trainees. A willingness to listen was key. I’m not sure Sadler has this even if the support was there
Not really because a robust interview process sorts the wheat from the chaff in most organisations, well except Walsall FC.
Well I hope he is willing to listen to advice. I thought he said himself he would ask Richard O’ Kelly for help along the way. In addition surely Trivela would make sure he had the necessary support.
That was god damn aweful. I would have been more entertained if I’d stared at my kitchen wall for 90 minutes.
We were joking you can just imagine the kids in the community stand saying " Daddy have I been naughty, why are you making me watch this?"
I’m usually the one calling for patience and saying we can’t keep changing managers every season, we need some stability long after others have been calling for the Managers head.
But…even I have all but lost any faith in Sadler now with some of the decisions recently and some of the things I’ve heard from him as well as some of the things I’ve not heard from him in his after match summing up.
I do now question if he can spot where the problems are and where he can whether he knows what to do about it.
Does it ? Having conducted hundreds if not thousands of interviews you don’t always get it right. Anyway we are a little off topic . I don’t think it would be right to sack him after such a short time.
Of course he should go, it’s blindingly obvious to anyone who has ever run a company or managed at any sort of senior role within an organisation, the real culprits are Trivela who didn’t do their due diligence. Are you suggesting that this principal leadership role can be successfully undertaken by anyone just by ‘pointing out where he could improve’? He’s had five thousand people regularly offering advice for the last 6 months and he’s actually got worse. Who are these people that are managing him and pointing him in the right direction?
He’s clearly not suitable, this is not a role in Local Government, the Civil Service, NHS or Education where people can be moved sideways or their work role reduced or fudged and FYI I worked for 14 years in Local government where the incompetent managers were simply moved, supervised or tolerated…
Sorry for your loss.
UP THE SADDLERS
No I’m not sure it would either, as I say we need some stability and can’t keep switching, but I have far less confidence that he can become the right man for the job than I did a couple of weeks ago.
If I was in Ben’s position I would be thinking although we do need that stability, you know know what I might have to stick my hand up and say well that being the case I made the wrong appointment.
Bit of a drama tbh mate meant I ran out of time. I’m going back on Monday morning. Where are you staying?
I disagree . Football is different to those roles you describe but clubs that keep sacking Managers don’t usually achieve very much. If he goes we will have a week or two without a Manager and then who ?
I would have thought after the past 5 years people would have realised we need a period of stability but clearly not.
Surely a decent manager now before the window?
As blatant as it looked live
I think Richard okelly was there today
Thanks Mel
I thought I must have been seeing things when I posted at the time that it was a nailed on penalty, and no one responded. That confirms it. Looking at the refs position, how didn’t he see it? The guy virtually took the lace out of the ball
We definitely need stability I agree but surely that stability should come with the right management in place ?
Can’t keep someone who’s not good at their job just to get stability though surely ?
I see your point about stability but we are anything but stable.
Where do you think we would be if we had stuck with Matt Taylor?
As painful as it got under Flynn, had I known they would choose Sadler I would have just stuck with Flynn.
Flynn had more patience from the fans because he had a body of work behind him with some reasonable results. If Trivela wanted some stability, maybe don’t appoint a manager with no experience who had been part of the previous failures, that pretty much none of the fanbase wanted in the first place. It isn’t on Sadler, it is on Trivela. Up to them to sort it out.
Don’t just assume we won’t go down, really just don’t do that. It could happen.
I’m not happy with how things are going on the pitch . But would give Sadler til end of December to sort it out.
Hopefully he will have a few more players back in the next week or 2 . He really must go at teams especially at home and not keep worrying about the opposition instead concentrate on his own team .
Playing it way to safe imo must play 2 up top at home from the start .
Great save for a keeper!
I can completely understand Maher’s piss being superheated - awful non-decision.
We are in hope and pray territory now. Due diligence, recruitment profiles, ability to show any progress let alone incremental progress are based on a wing and a prayer that Sadler might get it right.
Those that want to continue with Sadler don’t actually really defend him and give reasons for why he should stay, it’s now just reverted to we can’t keep sacking managers and we need stability.
