Unfortunately the seats next to me are taken but there are some in front which are available. I am sure that if he has any friends there will be plenty of room to accommodate him.
The best place to go to avoid that happening would be Bescot.
Matt’s simply been a massive disappointment.
I’d be amazed if he’s still here by February. Simply a move that hasn’t worked out.
If O’Kelly was there and making notes, it will be because he and Mat are pals and sitting up in the stands, detached from the pitchside emotion, he can offer a very useful perspective. It in no way undermines the assistant, Waddock, who is on the touchline. The more viewpoints, the better, I would have thought? So well done to Sadler for using his connections in the game.
The Cowley brothers? Almost certainly keeping up to date with games, ready for their next opportunity, but also potentially looking at MK Dons, where the manager is under some pressure, because they expected to be right up the top at this stage, bearing in mind the money they have spent.
It’s another one of those situation where, if we pick up a win against the bottom side on Saturday, then seven points from the nine available over the last three games is a really good return given the opposition on paper. Unfortunately we all know how this will pan out and lead to us looking over our shoulder rather than up the table
On the game, as many have said, we sat in and went for the draw. We improved second half but I didn’t get the sense that they were ever rocked. I’d half liked to have seen us go for the win but can’t help that Sadler had half an eye on the pressure that would have mounted again had we lost
That he didn’t want Sadler as manager, and won’t let it go despite the fact were doing ok. Suddenly it’s all about the aesthetics of how we play and not about whether we’re accumulating points.
Clearly knows more about football than an actual coach, or expert if you will.
No I’m not saying we’re the new Brazil, before anyone starts, but we’re doing ok.
Unless you look at the actual League 2 table and pretty much non of the possession places correlate with any of the clubs actual league position. I mean you even had to qualify it twice, with

Weird obsessive post. Pointless.
I see him more as an elderly player patient we’re taking care of in his twilight years .
We always appear to be 1 player short whatever formation we play.
If we play 3-4-1-2 we get overrun in midfield,
if play 4-2-3-1 don’t have enough upfront.
Where is the problem?
Are our players not fit enough, not well organised, or just not good enough?
Who are we carrying?
Maybe we should ask the EFL if we can play 12 to even it up
I think most supporters would have no problem in switching formations, even to 3-5-2, where it was warranted. However, what people do have a problem with is trying to shoe-horn players into a system which doesn’t play to their strengths, like Matt Taylor with 4-2-3-1 when we didn’t have the attacking wide players or a lone striker to make it work well. It’s the same with Mat Sadler this season with 3-5-2: we don’t have a RWB good enough or a naturally left-sided centre-back to make it work. The current squad is much better suited to 4-2-3-1 or 4-1-2-1-2. In fact, I’d like to see us play with a diamond shape in midfield, so that we could fit in DJ.
No we don’t, we get overloaded down the sides and our left and right sided centre backs are dragged out of position.
We would if we retained possession better and got the ball into the two wide players. But for me, Tierney spent so long running around chasing the ball when he didn’t need to it left us overrun in midfield so we never got the chance.
I’d liken Tierney last night to dog shit…he literally got everywhere….but it was everywhere you didn’t want it to be.
I’ll be moaned at but in terms of how we play Evans is the instigator of all things bad. I’ve literally never seen a GK spend so long with the ball in his hands or taking a goal kick. Sick of him standing there waving away players who want a quick throw out, so he can wave everyone up field, let the opposition reorganise and then launch it as far as he can to nobody.
He stopped doing this for a while but he’s right back at it and it has to stop.
Which I agree with to a degree but you could also argue that was the case even the way we played 4231……possibly due to Knowles suspension and the subsequent win at Bradford meaning sticking with the same side was almost a given….if Knowles had been available / fit the 4231 is better suited to him and oteh wide with hutch through the middle.
I said this on another thread….
It solves the wanting to play 2 up from issue without losing control of the midfield or needing to play 3 centre backs. However the bottom of the diamond is crucial on being able to slot into a back 3 to allow the full backs to release….McEntee should be good for this but I have doubts over his ability to take the ball in that role….Stork I’d have doubts over his ability to be a CB on turnover of possession……
However……Comley would I imagine be perfect for it….
Agreed.
As a saddlers fan I went to the game last night with
Optimism .I came away grateful for a point against a pretty decent team and an ok performance.not the worst game I’ve seen by a long way .I really don’t see us being any sort of challenge this season even for a play off spot If I was a MK Dons fan watching that last night it would probably be the other way round.disappointed at not taking 3 points but very optimistic about what can be achieved this season at least the playoffs.”I wanna feel like that “even if we fail to achieve it .is that to much to ask ?
On Saturday id stick McEntee centre back (resting williams) and I’d bring Knowles in moving Hutchinson into the centre. All our players are in their best positions then. Hutchinson is not a winger and it’s no coincidence that when he nearly scored it was through the centre after a nice run.
Williams I thought struggled positionally last night, he didn’t play badly but he is raw but has ability and a good attitude. Daniels I thought was immense, personally I thought he was motm but Evans was also superb. I didn’t think we were too bad last night, plenty of room for improvement going forward though.
I do quite like Sadler so far but I get the feeling he is going to remain stubborn with McEntee is midfield.
In a couple of games the one of the opposition centre backs (in a 3) has been an attacking option. We do not do that, bar the odd run. It seems to be a new idea this year.
Thought McEntee did the dirty work well last night mainly and handled his early booking jeopardy well but we need more from that position to elevate ourselves to play off contenders.
On Williams, he was challenged much more last night than at Bradford. Great for his experience but their movement befuddled him at times and Daniels held his hand through most of the game.
Sutton away is likely to be more like the Bradford challenge for him so I think unless Farq is fit Williams will retain his place.
I’ve got the impression that whenever Allen or Farq can come back in… it will be back to the 352.
