D 1-1 vs Barrow (H) - League Two - Tue 12th March, 7:45pm

I really do not think the play offs are plausible now and I hope supporters do not become too critical if we lose a couple of matches. If we did manage to squeeze into the play-offs, we might have a much stronger team!

Agreed. If we could have known in November what the current injury list would be, most people would have predicted us flirting with a relegation fight. Even last month, just a temporary stay in the play-off places looked way beyond us. We’re still exceding recent expectations, even if injuries stop it lasting.

Thanks for saving me the trouble of having to engage with someone who simply wants to lick an argument :+1: and thanks for saving me the trouble of training back through match highlights :+1:

There was also a very clear cut chance v Crawley before the one that hit his knee from less than a foot out….

And I’m not going back through but did post at the time there was two chances earlier in the season where his touch was so far off being what it needed to be (or indeed used to be) that he didn’t even end up with it being a chance!

Some people would even have recognised those as chances missed because it required more than the bleedin obvious to have seen it.

Btw this isn’t a DJ knocking exercise it’s simply to demonstrate that EVERY striker on the planet has a miss in him and there not a striker out there that hasn’t had that head in hands moment of ā€œhow the hell did I manage to miss that!ā€

Finishing is a mystery. Something that looks so easy to the spectator, but is actually the hardest job in the game and often completely inexplainable to everyone.

All in all I thought it was a really good point against a very well drilled Barrow side .ours being a very makeshift team.I thought Comely deserved his man of the match and without him we would have be over -run in midfield .dont think we ever go much control in this game and they new our danger man hutch and often had two three players on him .I thought in the circumstances he did pretty well .Earing was disappointed for me and would maybe have liked to see a change a bit earlier there .but can’t really be critical of anyone last night I know we missed a couple of chances and on another night could have been different.but they hit the post twice a missed a few more .when you weigh everything up a really good hard working performance and we got something for it .got be happy with that .gonna be tough I think to stay in contention for play offs .but everyone giving everything .and as long as that keeps happening they will get my full support win draw or lose .

Yes I’ve seen that, although someone has said to me it was a player but hed had a ā€œbloodā€ injury and so he’d changed his shirt to a numberless one……

I hope that’s not true and it really was a fan….i really hope :rofl:

The one where Tierney knocked it down wasn’t a terrible miss. Struck it true and was heading in, just brilliant defending.

Can’t remember the other one but harsh to class that as a terrible miss. Faal on the other hand!

Come on. It’s on the volley … left foot (is he right footed) he’s under immediate pressure with two
Defenders in front of him. Not comparable at all. Got any more ?

It’s pathetic really, isnt it? Some people decide on their view and then make everything fit that narrative. Neither of those were ā€œbad missesā€.

No I cant find anything thats as similar, thats as close as I can remember… I felt like the one against Crawley (before his successful tap in) was similar but it wasnt.

At least last nights efforts were on target… I get your point but its not helpful. my point is at least we are making the keeper work.

Those highlights also remind me how we miss Oteh.

This is an excellent interview, I really enjoy hearing from the players. You can tell they are trying the best for us and that we are having such a positive role to play too. Liam mentions hearing us screaming for the attacks which is encouraging them and honestly I hope it continues.

I said earlier in the season its like a football version of Bataris Box… Our Support Brings on an improvement in Atmosphere which boosts players morale which effects player performance.

Its huge to feel appreciated by the players… hope we can build on that relationship, it might in turn grow the fan base.

Ive seen several comments about how ineffective Earing was on tuesday night. I very much suspect that this is closely related to the opposing manager having very detailed knowledge of Earing’s strengths and weaknesses, having been a very influential person in the development of the player.

Earing and Hutch were man-marked the entire game by Gotts (Hutch) and Spence (Earing). Even to the point that they swapped sides when Hutch and Earing did.

Too easy for people to just say ā€œhe was poor….ā€ Barrow are among the most well drilled well organised defensive units in the division.

Spot on.

A few teams have now done this.

And despite an often dreadful end product we will miss Knowles for this reason too.

If Earing and Hutch are shackled you need to give the opposition something else to think about and Knowles is certainly that. Foulkes doing OK and he with Gordon need to keep being the wild cards that provide extra attacking options supplemented by the odd maraud from a centre back.

Agree they are no mugs and have a very good manager who sets his teams up to stop the opposition with their strengths.
When I left and was walking to the car I was disappointed with the draw I felt we done enough especially towards the end to have won it, but then I think back to them hitting the post a couple of times and having a decent wedge of possession at times and a draw was probably a fair result.
A positive for me is (and I was massively a Sadler out fan) is that once again MS as come up against a very experienced low level manager and more than matched him as did our lads on the pitch, they’re trying very hard for him and the fans and long may it continue, I’m enjoying going again after 8 long years of crap.

With our growing injury list and the games coming thick and fast I’m of the opinion that against a team (Barrow) in good form we coped remarkably well especially with the pressure they put us under at times.
MS has and continues to be getting the best out of the group available and deserves absolute credit for that.
Earlier in the season a relegation battle seemed the more likely battle yet here we are mid March and we’re actually in with a shout of a playoff spot.
What a refreshing change that makes.
