D 1-1 vs Crawley Town (A) - League Two - Tue 13th Feb, 7:45pm

Been wanting to ask this for ages now….Can someone explain to me the thought process or logic behind why using the term ‘PE Teacher’ is seen as an appropriate insult?

Most PE Teachers I know are highly educated have trained for several years and are skilled at educating other people……isn’t that the same skillset as coaching?

The Cowleys ACTUALLY were PE teachers….as were Gerard Houlier, Rafa Benitez, Roy Hodgson and a host of other highly regarded managers….

I just don’t understand the use of it as an insult….generally by people who barely passed a GCE!!

He also said he thought the ref didn’t give our forwards protection which allowed Crawley to apply that pressure which seemed a reasonable take on it to me.

Still reliant upon a hope and a prayer though.

 someone who can see the bigger picture

And the ref doing his job which doesn’t seem unreasonable

Didn’t say it wasn’t, but this is League Two, the standard of refs is generally poor, still doesn’t take away the ability to manage a game.

Great minds…I have just posted a similar view on the Sadler out thread :grinning:

Like @SidSwifty said there’s only so many times you can keep sacking and hiring managers before you realise that you need to try something different we have exhausted all different avenues.

Young prem academy coach. Taylor
Non league manager. Keates
Been there done it manager. Clarke
Getting a club to over achieve manager. Flynn

Problem is now fans are at an all time low and have very little patience and its understandable. So unless the new manager its the ground running and avoids any barron spells which is highly unlikely as even your Stockports,Wrexhams Notts County and Mansfield you’re really big spenders have barron spells its the culture of football then we will be calling for there head 3 months down the line. Rinse and repeat.

Especially if Sadler stamps on his foot.

You can see just why he gets the label of failed schoolteacher as he answers his own questions with the occasional gulp……of course we do……more like us……top top team….hard place to come……Smith…have you handed your homework in?
Really?
He must have fooled BB with the gift of the gab and for some reason he is still the Manager/Coach.

Always interesting to get an opposition view of the game. I too thought we were good value for our lead at half time and bossed it, half time came at a bad time really because were absolutely dominant at that time and it was a matter of when not if the 2nd goal would come. The break no doubt completed halted our momentum and they came out like a steam train, we defended manfully but the goal was coming unfortunately. After that I thought we did well to get a grip on proceedings again but we looked very leggy which was no surprise really after 90 minutes on a really soft pitch on Saturday and then a short turnaround and another long trip last night on a similarly boggy pitch.
In isolation a point away at a side above us is not to be sniffed at but if we want to have a crack at those play-off spots it’s obviously got to be viewed as another missed opportunity and two points dropped rather than the hard fought point gained that it was.

Not a chance of a crack at the play offs. Way too inconsistent. Not winning since new year’s day has killed that. Typical January for us!!!

It does feel depressingly similar to last season, again at the turn of the year we put ourselves into a position within reach of the play-offs and completely tailed off. Surely we can do much better from here on in to last season.

Not sure we have it in us. Need a response soon!!. Need Sadler to start recognising the shortcomings of the team and stop being defensive when leading games!!. Still think we should go to the formation that gave us success in December. Seems as though we’ve reverted to type

                       Smith

Foulkes. Farqharson. Daniels. Allen
Comley.
Knowles. Earing. Hutchison Gordon
Faal.

Something different!

Only if they score goals or assist goals scored.

I’ve finally listened to this.

It’s delusional and barmy.

He’s going to give Matt a contract extension isn’t he ?

Jesus Christ.

All of the 4 strikers were fantastic apparently - despite not scoring. Again. Mad.

The record for our strikers as regards scoring goals is absolutely shocking with the exception of DJ who hasn’t been prolific by any stretch of the imagination over his whole career.Anyway he doesn’t even get a game when fit so probably irrelevant.Just have a look at what we have in the team upfront to score goals it’s shocking.

Not only are they not scoring, but last night none of them had anything approaching a chance to score.

They had abysmal service from the wide players, who are incapable of putting in decent crosses, and the midfield create nothing for them. Chances for forwards in previous games have come from errors by the opposition, rather than from creative play from our own players. When DJ plays he is reliant on our midfield and wingers to give him the ball in a decent position.

The only player that looked like scoring was Hutch - again. Cant remember a striker having a near miss.

I am fairly certain that we are going to lose Hutch for next season. Then we will really see how talented this apparently ‘good squad’ is, especially if he extends the contracts of the likes of Matt

Players like DD have far too much faith placed in them. At the end of the day, he was a major part of the squad that finished 16th last season. Quite what is on his CV that makes people think he is a great player and leader is beyond me
