No our defenders make it so easy for teams. When it’s played back to them the idea is you encourage the press and then be brave to play around it. We don’t. We take the easy no risk option and boot it long. That’s why we surrender possession so often and why we have to defend so much.
We were awful for the first twenty minutes, couldn’t get hold of the ball and didn’t do anything with it when we had possession.
A better performance as the half progressed but never looked like scoring, we really have to up the tempo next half as it’s not been anywhere good enough.
It was really quite funny when the Grimsby players sat down one after another so that they would not be down to ten men. That lot took over 2 minutes so 3 minutes added time was laughable.
We are actually trying to play football but Grimsby are closing us down and being allowed pulls and nudges that we are not. Kinsella created our best chance but Wilkinson, who is playing OK generally, made a mess of it.
This is a crazy take. You’re talking about 4th tier quality defenders! Play around the press?? We haven’t got Baresi and Maldini at the back.

Dashed home to pay 10 pounds and watch that rubbish, shouldn’t have bothered. Can’t even pass to each other half the time. Long throws still ineffective and we dont even win the first header.
They have strikers who occupy our centre halves and make their attacks more dangerous. We simply don’t, that’s the difference. Don’t think the Grimsby centre halves had a lot to do that half.
But don’t worry, hayden white has come on now so it’s going to be okay!
