D 1-1 vs Sutton United (H) - League Two - Sat 27th Jan, 3pm

Agreed mate.

Why does Knowles think he has to take every set piece aswell. The bloke really is a liability how many times today did he let us down when in good positions. Don’t like the way he went down faking injury and leaving us with 10 men . When we all knew there was nothing a matter with him .
In the best interests of Walsall fc I really would get rid of him and replace before the window closes.

Still can’t get my head round why their number 50 was subbed :flushed:
I like Knowles on the whole but he was shockingly bad today.

Terrible game. Didnt enjoy it at all. Apart from DDs top bin.

The boos were very OTT. 6 or so players had off days but we didnt lose. We crack on. Perspective pls

Playoffs this season is a massive pipedream. As a team we are not good enough.

A fair result in my view. We created the better opportunities despite being out muscled in midfield. I would have put Stirk on at HT alongside Comley to combat that thereby allowing Hutchinson to roam further up field. Sutton came and did a job on us helped by the very poor referee.

Completely agree with that. Annoys me Knowles gets a free pass as Sadler won’t play Foulkes or Riley. If they’re not good enough get a proper rwb in who can challenge him for a place.

Should of been changes in that Midfield, theres no doubt about it.

Earing offered very little and Hutch as I mentioned above was part of a comical double act.

Tierney should of had 25 mins or so and perhaps Stirk aswell.

More proof that Sadler wont gamble and really isnt clued up in regards to subs.

2 “like for like” positional changes doesnt cut it when youre offering them no service.

Can sum him up in 3 sentences.
Speed of a racehorse.
Stamina of a carthorse.
Brains of a rocking hoss.

This was a very poor performance in so many ways. Sadler got it wrong selecting Evo and also imo DJT, should have started Flash alongside Faal. Tierney was warmed up called back and MS dallied sent him down touch line again and left Tierney sitting on the perimeter wall chatting to fans (imo Tierney should be reprimanded for that) To not use a single sub in second half is unacceptable MS has not got a clue on how to change a game plan or formation to wrestle back a game. On this showing we will struggle to get into the Top 10 let alone the playoffs… imo that is a step too far for this manager and his tactical ineptness… such a disappointment after the wait

My Dad used to use that phrase quite a bit, so cheers for that, put a smile on my face.

Disappointing result and performance but not really surprising. I think Sutton will be a bit disappointed they didn’t take the 3 points back with them. They had a few useful players actually, on the day at least anyway.

Hopefully that’s DJT relegated to 4th choice from now on. He was absolutely woeful.

I think it might be Matt and Gordon up top against Gills.

A really crap first half we were lucky go in at 1 - 1.

Second half was better but we just have no quality. We got sucked into their game and just went full dickie dosh ball at times. Our strikers reduced to scrapping for the ball. Hutchinson blocking Knowles shot summed it all up.

Several players today offered nothing. Very dissapointing. Subs wrong, tactics wrong, that ones on Sadler for me.

Sutton will stay up though, they’ve got some decent players.

Glad I played golf.

sounds like it’s all gone flat in January

Not a lot we didn’t know already

Knowles and DJT are simply not good enough.

Priest absolutely crucial at the back.

Thought Okagbue was very steady - he’s improved a lot .

We move on, think we were a bit lucky to get a point there .

Sutton were a team transformed from when they last played us and beat us easily in one of the most dismal games I have ever seen. This time they attempted to play the ball, were industrious in midfield and created many chances which thankfully they didn’t put away. We on the other hand played in the same nondescript way we did in that game. Back to square one with Sadler, poor display, no consistent way of playing, not the slightest chance of any thing changing.
Sutton should have completed the double today and I’m really happy I don’t have to watch this dross till a week on Tuesday.

Should they ? How many saves did Evans make ? We had many more opportunities despite their physicality.
One other point I agree it’s a close call between the keepers but Evans did well in catching crosses today which after all is a key part of being a goalkeeper.

Completely agree. I’ve been saying this for weeks. Two holding isn’t more defensive it just allows your attacking players more freedom.

Today we couldn’t find our midfield with a pass for love or money (largely due to a goalkeeper who waits for them all to be marked and then gets a 40% pass completion by booting it every time) and Comley isn’t good enough in possession to play the single role.

If you check Hutch’s touch map he’s pretty much played right midfield which is even less effective than him playing off the left in a 4231!!

Eating gets stuck in the left side birth and Hutch on the right and no one moves. By dropping one more deeper he can - bearing in mind he’s our biggest goal threat - can move wherever threatens the opposition.

We had a lot of crosses (that hit the first man) - but I don’t recall any big chances for us…? Only the Faal one really in the 2nd half.

I thought they edged it and look more dangerous than us.

I would drop evans next game for showing a total lack of urgency

Not sure about that, I think they had more clear opportunities overall, but did fluff them completely.

They had a few tidy players, one kept Liam Gordon on his toes all afternoon. They are 7 points from safety but I wouldn’t write them off just yet.

We all kind of expect us to roll up and brush them aside cos of where they are in the league but football doesn’t always work like that. You still have to earn it and I don’t think we did enough to win the game today.
