Dan Watson Out, Dan Still In

Gives a place for this to be discussed away from other threads.

Upset about Watson leaving, as he seemed to be truly invested in the club. Can’t and won’t comment on the reasons why as I don’t know these to be true, even if many are eluding to the reasons why.

Welcome to still. On paper, looks very good in relation to his qualifications. Hopefully he will do well.

Seems to be leaving on good terms

Just need some goalkeepers to coach now! I’m of the opinion we need improvement on last season so can’t get too upset, for all I know we have brought in a better goalkeeping coach and this is a positive despite how popular Dan Watson seems to be.

Sadly that doesn’t suit everyone’s agenda and there is a pot to be stirred and some posters are only too glad to stir it and knock the club.

For what it’s worth I’m sad to see Watto leaving he seemed like a good guy and obviously had the club at his heart. That said there is no room for sentiment in football and on qualifications at least the replacement would appear to be an upgrade.

This new bloke’s qualifications cannot be questioned, lets see how they translate on the training ground with whoever our goal keepers end up being next season.

I like Dan Watson as an individual, spoke to him a few times and we cannot fault his enthusiasm for the club and the town, what COULD be questioned is his coaching, Evans wasn’t great last season, Smith has some good and poorer attributes as a keeper.

Whilst everyone feels the roof is falling in we’ll see over the next few months whether it actually is or whether we’ve actually got a better coach than what we previously had despite his popularity.

Hopefully he will be a good appointment.

I knew his half-brother several years ago, he was a bit of a party animal, Dan Still-Dawn was his name.

Bit sad to see Dan leave and hope he finds himself a new club soon.

Really hope our improvements in setpiece play weren’t just down to him! - If so was worth keeping him on just as a set piece coach!

Ultimately as a goal keeping coach you’re judged by how the keepers perform and Evo definitely went backwards last year. Jacko definitely had some good games though - how much was down to Dan’s influence we might never know. Also remember one of our keepers last season saving a pen and claiming Dan told him which direction to dive. Anyway - welcome to new Dan, and hoping for some new signings soon.

Let’s hope we sign a very good proven goalkeeper .then we can all rave about how fantastic Dan Still coaching is .next season .or not . Reminds me a bit Rory McIlroy he can’t win another major it’s all his caddies fault apparently.:joy::joy:

Lets hope Mr Still has got the “party animal” out of his system.
Welcome to the club, Dan. I’m hoping you will have some keepers to coach very soon!

Just clicked on the link to try and read about it and it goes through to a blank page saying page not found - tried 2 or 3 times?!
I guess it has been taken down for some reason - I wonder why?

Probably due to the updated website

You know absolutely nothing to be fair, stick to WFTV.

He’s entitled to his opinion just as you are, to say he knows absolutely nothing is implying that you do.
Could you please share your irrefutable information.
Thank you

Wonder if ROK has had any input with this. He did say he was going to make things better, as good as the set pieces were as some have already highlighted Evans went backwards

Agreed. The rumours of penny pinching could (and I believe are) true in the sense he wanted a pay rise and was told no, and there could well be interest from elsewhere, so there’s been a fall out, but that’s not necessarily bad, the club might not think he was worth it and can get better (and may have already).

It doesn’t imply that at all. We could both know absolutely nothing, which is more than a possibility on many occasions.

I get a bit pissed off with posts knocking other supporters with generalised statements. I was a bit down last night and the beginning of that post just triggered me a bit.

Today is another day.

Exactly, i have said this previously, i dont get the love in with Dan Watson, he was employed as a goalkeeper coach, one of whom was booed at the very mention of his name prior to kick off. The only set peice of technical brilliance i can remember was at Wrexham at the start of the season. I agree, RoK, maybe having a say in these matters. So, did he improve our goalkeepers, i would say no.

No worries, I get a bit cheesed off with the almost constant negativity and questionable suppositions that are constantly used as a stick to beat the club with.
Almost always without any sensible alternatives

I suppose it just depends where your mindset is to begin with
