I’m guessing if off load some of our higher earners such as Leahy, our budget for league 2 might not be as bad as most fear.
Modern examples? Well Forest Green are about to kick off a league two play off game, Bury just won automatic promotion from league two despite not being able to pay their players AT ALL in April, oh and a few years ago Leicester won the Premier League.
Accrington, Rochdale, Wycombe and AFC Wimbledon have all just survived in league one when the likes of us, mossive clubs Plymouth and Bradford, and moneybags Scunny all got relegated.
They all have money!! Just because a club is small does not mean the budget or infrastructure is! The owner of Forest Green especially is bank rolling it on crowds of 2k. Club size means nothing these days which is why forward thinking non league chairmen at minnows are replacing teams like Notts County, Stockport etc.
Joe Masi made a good point on his podcast today, the fact that we’re releasing 19 players means that whilst we might not have the largest overall budget, Clarke will have a very large percentage of it to actually spend.
That’s it, I’m guessing Leahys salary would bag you a half decent striker at league 2 level.
Apologies if already put in here but this is a great insight into our new man. Comes across so well and can guarantee there will be a togetherness. Wouldn’t be surprised if he releases the lot.

Stockport on the way back mate. 3X fan base what they had in the 70’s and 80s." All have money" so Leicester had a bigger budget than Man U, Chelsea, and Man City did they? You asked for modern day examples, and you got modern day examples.
If my understanding is correct and he likes to use young players then the budget is out of the window. Get some real gems in and they will not cost a fortune at that stage of thier career and we might also benefit if we sell them.
That would also explain why JB likes him so much.
If we replaced Oakes with a scarecrow, would anyone notice?
Who is Oakes?
Liam Roberts displays might improve with the scarecrow
Listened to this earlier and was a great listen. He speaks well and is very confident in his own abilities.
Bonzo and crew will soon put paid to those shenanigans
Is that a fact? There are 19 players out of contract, but that doesn’t automatically translate into releasing them does it?
This also worth a listen
My apologies, in that case all is forgiven Mr Bonser, Mr Mole and Mr Gamble.
Just watching Tranmere in the Play Offs, apparently their board go out of their way to encourage support from Liverpool and Everton fans and offer incentives for those supporters to adopt them as their number 2 team. That’s why they get 9k. What do we do? Make it as hard as possible to walk-up on the day and charge more than our bigger rivals in higher leagues for 18 to 24 year olds. But yeah, Darrell Clarke - all is hunky dory.
By the way I accept Leicester and that is all - I said modern day fairytales are few and far between not that there aren’t any - they are far less common now - and I stand by it!
Yeah, apologies that read wrong!
Once again Uncle Jeff puts his annual record on the juke box and yet again we are all dancing to his favourite tune.
The appointment of Darrell Clarke has got to be welcomed but in reality is only the latest in a long line of smokescreens to try and divert attention from the very real and serious problem that is still there, and will still be there long after DC has got fed up and departed the sandy shores of sunny Worsul.
Let’s just wait and see before we all go off on one. And see if Clarke is backed. We don’t know what has been said and what assurances he has been given in order for him to sign a 3 year deal.
Apart from one or two on here who are trying to make a name for themselves. By pretending to know things that only the hierarchy know
