David Okagbue Departs

I’ve no doubt we are selling ourselves as a stepping stone, and no problem with it.

We just need to make sure we benefit from players who are coveted by higher league clubs before they go. As it stands we developed Dave and made a profit on him, but the reality is we are still in the same league, just with perhaps £100k profit on his time with us.

Got dragged off by one the other players whilst mouthing at fans at the end of one the home games.

Contract length dictates that to an extent.

I think we have given one or two 3 year deals out this time. It comes with a risk but the rewards will be better for the ones that pay off.

Yes. Peterborough have never signed a bad player in their history :joy:

Sorry for the late reply, only just got back from dropping him off for free.

Couldn’t you have dropped Comley off somewhere on the way like Rushden

By who? Which game?

Peterborough have signed plenty of players who haven’t made an impact Tshimanga is one recently that comes to mind there’s been a fair few others as well.
Throw enough shit up the wall and some will stick the Peterborough signing non league diamonds and making a fortune on them is about 10 to 15 years old now they haven’t done so well in recent years.

I couldn’t fit him in the car. I had to leave enough space just incase Big Dave had to try and trap a football.

Couldn’t give a flying monkeys now about Dave or Peterborough.

I’m just glad I won’t have to watch his silly mistakes or long hoofs out of play anymore.

I would say their model works. I’ve checked last seasons figures and they are making money. Perhaps it doesn’t have a significant impact on league position, but the higher leagues can drain you economically for years just to be there. Who knows, League 1 canm be the best place to develop players without worrying too much about what other teams are doing.

Why’s it always gotta be all or nothing ? Obviously Peterborough model works for them but every signing they make isn’t always gonna work. This 1 they have got majorly wrong imo. He will flop and be stuck out the squad after 10 games of the season and be loaned out sharpish imo.

Not really working then :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Usual poor reasoning skills from you. Bby the same logic you and Samsara have never called a player bad who has turned out to have a good career :joy:

Time will tell and for the record I was on the fence about Dave. Amazed he’s been given a 4 year deal at a league 1 club.

Which to me indicates they paid handsomely for his services, no Bonser cheap quick sales here. We know it’s 6 figures, but to me that suggests more than 100k for their investment to be on a possible 5yr contact

The Dave dislikers are being very defensive, I wonder why :joy:.

Stats suggest he had a very strong season, he seemed to have interest from at least 2 league one clubs and signed for a team with a strong record of picking up youngsters (yes they aren’t perfect and do make mistakes like any club). However despite this some of our posters seem to know better.

I actually think league two is his level currently but what some are forgetting is his age, he is still a baby and 15 years younger than Flint. He has the potential to improve a lot and obviously Peterborough see that. However with one year of his contract left and what sounds to be a good fee then it’s a no brainer for us.

Take your point about him being young and has PLENTY of room for improvement but Im interested to see these stats?

Anybody heard anything about the fee?
A ‘significant 6 figure sum’ to me seems like we’re talking £250k+

The f***ing irony :joy:

That’s not the same logic at all. There’s every chance he develops, I’m accepting that as a possibility.

What I’m not doing is using the proof Peterborough have signed him as evidence he will turn into a defender that is any good.

I look forward to the match reviews once the season starts.
He will be a bench warmer, good luck to him.
Aden Flint in replacement, forget the age, fantastic
