"they seem an ageing team "
I’ve often wondered how old Kodjia is.

Talk about living in the past and ■■■■■■■ over a bog standard manager.
Bringing some balance to those he choose to re-write history.
I stated why he was so dire. You’ve chosen to ignore that. You don’t like goals at home, entertainment or winning, good luck to you.
What’s weird is a thread on a Walsall message board about Smith, who left years ago and the worst club on the planet, Villa. A combination of ■■■■■.
■■■■■ who deserve each other.
Make no mistake, Warnock would get Villa up this season.
Worst club on the planet? Grow up mate.
Make no mistake? What would he have done that Bruce didn’t with this squad? I mean they are both the exact same type of coach. Except Bruce has done it at a higher level.
To be fair that’s more John Terry’s province
Anyone is perfectly entitled to a view that Smith’s football was ‘boring’ or tippy tappy using the language of the time. It’s a subjective view shared by many at various times of his tenure. Not a universal truth however.
It’s quite different to assert that Smith’s football was ‘crap’, that he’s rubbish, or was somehow a failure. It’s difficult to find evidence to support those statements. Suggesting that those not adhering to such assertions are somehow moronic is also challenging to sustain.
Smith should be regarded as one of our most valuable managers. Infinitely more talented than Hibbitt, Sorenson, Merson and everyone else recently with the exceptions of Graydon, possibly Money, with whom he was on a par in many ways, and Colin Lee.
The one thing that was missing was demonstrable success in the form of promotion. I think everyone would accept, however grudgingly, that the Smith team was poised for promotion. There is nothing to suggest that he would have failed from that point had he not left. I think even Whitney would have done it if only through sheer force of will and the momentum we possessed at that time.
I hope Villa fail and Smith guides them into the conference. But we have to take Smith’s Walsall reign in the round and defer subjective views to where they belong. Otherwise we are victim of whatever fair or foul mood takes us at the time.
I actually belly laughed at this. I loved Smith at Walsall and did wonder how I would react to him being in charge at the Vile - I guess jumping up and celebrating QPR’s goal in the middle of a bunch of Villa fans in a Moseley pub on Friday answers that question…
As for @saddlerken he is showing all the traits of a troll at present judging by some of his contributions. May be the first one on this new site!
You’d have thought that “most irrational poster of the month”’ had been won hands-down on the 'Blocking users" thread, but Ken’s idiotic faux-contrarianism is offering competition.
Can see him being next to get sacked.
Villa are awful and how saints are only winning by 1 goalnis beyond me.
All gone fools up since R.O.K and J.T left.
Next 5 matches for villa…
Brighton
Palace
Man city
leicester
Liverpool
then Norwich where they may get a point.
Franksey I don’t want to say it but h.g.t,g.
…or when Shakey came in.
Vile should be at worst second in the table being the most important team on the planet. Deano doesn’t have long left I’d say
Looking at the Villa message boards he’s got the fans against him, can’t see him being there much longer
He will be gone in next few days
Agree. They really think they’re a big team
I’ll be able to go back to enjoying them losing then. Every cloud etc.
They won the European cup you know
He’s a gonna after that result.
Was that against honved under those floodlight things?
Bayern Munich apparently
Just a thought that whatever Deans shortcomings and strange tactics and substitutions again tonight isn’t it a fact that he has been treated by the Villa owners and executives exactly as he was by Bonser and co. They saw the pound signs and sold Grealish and the departures of RoK and JT were shrouded to some extent in secrecy and did Dean have any say in their replacements those well known men Aaron Danks and Austin Macphee.
