Four points more than Crawley. Three points is risky, don’t wanna see if gd is good enough or not. And look out for other teams. If Harrogate for example gains momentum, all this can be futile.
I wasn’t embarrassed losing to Bristol City either, but even to this day it really bothers me that we wasted a once in a lifetime chance to at least go down all guns blazing instead of the non performance they presented to us fans, they were too busy worrying about not losing to put up a fight.
Added Donny in. They’re gonna have a big say about who nicks that last play-off spot, playing 4 of their last 6 games against teams in the mix.
I don’t think there have been any real touchline hugging wingers- Terry Paine, Jimmy Johnstone- for a while. Most of our more recent ones, like Wrack and Cross have been more wide forwards. Dennehy and Rees are the last two I can remember. (We had a Jimmy Kelly from Wolves, but I try not to remember him.) They all used to cut in on occasions , but it was rarer. Modern wide players spend as long coming inside as they do out wide. Macdonald preferred to go inside to put it on his right foot.
And Donny have won their last 5 on the trot including Crewe, Crawley and Wrexham.
The last team to beat them was US!
Wembley was played after the architect left the building.
And hopefully the next team to beat them !
Could do with 4 points from the next two away matches.
That’d put us on 63 with the home week coming up, meaning two wins and a draw from it would take us up to the 70 point mark going into the last game.
It’s certainly doable
I think we need back to back away wins to take a little pressure off the 3 x home games in a week BUT also back to back always should give us superb attendances at The Poundland Bescot and the home support can drag us over the line. Given the number of teams still “in it” and Crawley’s current advantage I fear we will need 15pts from last 18 if we are to sneak in … that’s probably too BIG an ask imo but next two away wins should have us all believing again COYS
Or maybe drag us down with the booing!
4 wins from our last 6 should just get us in there looking at the teams above and around us and what they have left and who its against can we do it though? this time next week we should know anyway.
Hopefully they catch the same cold we did after winning 5 on the trot ! Its funny how the psychology of a football fan works; your always expect your teams winning run to come to a spluttering halt but when looking at other teams on a similar streak you think there is no reason for it to stop.
Or maybe that’s just me
Reversion to the side’s mean performance level is always the most likely outcome, whether they are in a good run or in a bad run.
That is why I am hoping that our very poor run of form over the past five matches will come to an end on Saturday.
It already has, we won on Monday despite the pantomime atmosphere from parts of the ground.
Dont think we will get anything from doncaster… they are flying atm
While the result was what we wanted, the quality of performance on Monday was very poor indeed. The two matches over the bank holidays brought us 3 points, but our standard of play in them was as bad as at any time this season, if not longer.
It’s funny because 99% of the time most people in football consider winning when not playing well, particularly at the business end of the season, is a positive thing.
Clearly with the high standards set at Walsall over the years Walsall fans have come to expect far more
Do you think that we played well in either of the two matches over the bank holiday? I thought that we were really poor in both games, but perhaps you disagree.
I was delighted with the result on Monday and went home happy, but that does not mean that I forgot the sub-par level of football on display.
It was only tongue in cheek….i get what you’re saying…
I thought MK were just miles better than us. We competed for short spells late in first half, but my feeling is the change at half time was the staff recognising that and hoping to stay in the game with an eye on damage limitation and possible snatching a point.
The penalty situation killed that and not long after we went back to original formation and what I think they feared first half was what happened.
Salford are a much better side than many believe….theyd lost their way under the previous manager but they still have a decent squad and since Xmas were 5th in the table….
I think we played ok for the most part. We always concede too much possession and Salford did have the lions share of it….but we had our moments and created chances.
It was a little smash and grab but I never felt it was a complete daylight robbery.
I said before, we had the toughest Easter fixtures of all the play off contenders and we came out of it with 3 points and ended a barren spell….
Exactly I thought winning when playing badly was the sign of being a good team.
