Director of Football

I hope that Pomlett has a bit of ‘rascal’ in him. Bonser waited for Richard Money to become available and backed him financially to build a great league two squad.

Darrell Clarke would not have come cheap and we also got compensation for him. It is also good that we haven’t had to pay off any managers for a while. I think Walsall would be a great move for Rob Kelly and he would be a realistic name within our price bracket.

Come on, Leigh, Port Vale did it to us so why shouldn’t we do it to Barrow and be the ‘shark’ for once? If you can’t beat them, join ‘em, that’s what I say!

I’ve also read that Neil McDonald is helping Kelly out until the end of the season. He could step up at Barrow if we nabbed Kelly; alternatively, McDonald’s CV is none too shabby either…

Spotted today at the Bescot, wearing some old Chelsea gear.

Honest.

Why do so many believe this person must have an extensive football background? I was surprised to see this was stated within the Job Description.

There are many very successful Director of Football/ Head of Football Operations/ Sporting Directors who don’t have industry experience. Why rule this group out?

Just seen heading towards the stadium

He might be the one to teach Roberts to use his head :stuck_out_tongue:

:joy: :joy: brilliant

You sound so out of touch with the reality of our situation that you could be someone making the calls at the club

Pomlett should have identified issues with Clarke before he walked

He should have got a Director of Football in a long time ago

The man should have had a detailed plan pre pandemic and then adjusted it mid pandemic. Not write one while we are mid pandemic

And finally Brian Duttons appointment not the shrewdest before he had input and the more we play under him the worse we get

You sound like someone that just wants to criticise in the hope it’ll help. Come on… Don’t start more infighting.

Only stating the obvious

If we were 5 or 6 points better off I’d be less concerned

I’ve been posting my concerns on this for months but see this situation going down hill !

If you were to become DoF down at the BanksStad, would you expect a bigger wedge than that of Burslems finest , or his bessie mate Dutto ?

Just wonderin’.

Now there’s a thought! Halsall (with his background and history with us) DOF and Kelly as manager.

Thank you, excellent information. I think we should aim high and go for Zorc, just what we need. :grinning: I’m not so sure Dutton will go even if we lose the next couple of games based on what is in the e &s today. He is talking about the project and needing a transfer window to bring in the players he needs. It seems a lot of effort is going in to keeping him here with the d of f role.

Just seen Martin O’Neill on the Broadway :man_facepalming:t2:

It the salary is decent and someone is out of work then there is no shame in applying.

It’s actually an attractive role, and some will see it as a stepping stone to getting back into the game.

I’m hoping that whoever wants it isn’t attracted by the salary. I’m hoping they fancy a more stable position (than being a manager) where they can dispense a wisdom that has built up over decades in the game and be part of re-establishing the pride at one of the mainstays of English football.

Double edged sword though P.T wisdom and experience costs money, what Leigh needs to do is find the middle ground.

Yeah, I guess I have this romantic notion of somebody in who is bridging from a front line job to retirement. Still have fire in the belly and want to do something more strategic and long term. A quasi “giving something back” type mind set.

But you’re right, that is quite fanciful.

There’s a lot of “should have” in your post.
Should get us nowhere. The facts are LP could have, would have and should have, but didn’t!
I’m not going to waste my time arguing with you, as others like to do on here, I do find it strange to say I’m out of touch when I get my Walsall FC news from the very same sources as you do.
My posts are comment on what I see and hear about the club. We all see things differently and (thank God) we live in countries where we are allowed to express ourselves openly and freely.

Being honest, I thought the “out of touch” comment was out of order.
