Mick Halsall never held the DoF role but he played a big role in some of our signings
It was him who Deeney ? Who played against his son
I think Iāve read it was his contacts on Merseyside that got us Scott Dann ?
He plucked Grigg from Stratford via the Blues
Iām sure I read it was his links to Everton that helped get Gerrard on loan
Donāt know what heās doing now or if heās still local but what a servant he was to several managers

Aaah OK. He said. That must be right then. My prediction is that his clinging to the desperate hope results improve allowing the penny pinching delay in the appointment or possibly win the next 2 and ditch the plan completely. Everything he does is just an absolute car crash. This will be no different

This decision shouldnāt be rushed. It takes time to find the right person and it will take time to see the effects of his work too. And why is it an important decision? Usually DOF will act as owner, but only on matters concerning football. Earlier there were no sporting directors, only owners who did all that football related stuff. I know itās hard to precisely describe what that person will do, but it is a very elastic position. Probably not for former managers, or players, despite there being successful DOFs after such roles. I can imagine a person, who only seen football on a telly, sometimes visiting some grounds, but normally were doing his ordinary work and collecting some diplomas. Personally I would expect an appointment after this season, or near the end of it. Sooner is possible too, but it would raise question marks then. And why it is so important? No more fuckups, but stable relationship and stable progressing of a football club are at stake.

What really? I had a feeling the club is a bit directionless, canāt keep one direction for a longer time since DS left. He even left some blueprint, but probably no one known what to do with it. With DOF club should be more focused on what to do, more organised and more stable. But of course DOF is not a magician, who with one hand gestures fix all. I donāt expect him to push us to the Championship. But expecting he will create a club capable of staying in the top half of League One, plus occasional cup runs and turning the club to an money earning enterprise? That should be doable.
According to Wikipedia, Halsall as of 2018 had a coaching role at Coventry.
So thatās Robins, Viveash, Marsh and Halsall all at Coventry 
I would take the lot in a flash!

Thanks for the explanation but Iām sticking to my view of penny pinching delays of weeks or a non appointment and deferral of the plan IF results turn around. A slip nearer the relegation zone might prompt Pomlett into making some desperate appointment but thatās about it. Like I say my view on anything Pomlett doing being a car crash of momentous proportions. Accept ur viewpoint but I donāt agree

This makes economic sense as his wages could be crowdsourced from fans of other clubs desperate to keep him in a job that will prevent him applying to be their teamās manager. Unfortunately there are no other positives.

Mick Halsall is currently Head of Academy at West Bromwich Albion. He was headhunted from Coventry City so suspect he is earning more than we are able to afford for DofF role.
