I understand the point of those referencing the great start as a reason we should not be in a relegation fight but I think the squad is lacking in areas other than footballing ability that makes them relegation fodder. Those areas being experience, leadership, nous, composure, character even. Look at collective loss of confidence when the team resorted to hoofing the ball to Cook, the recent performances where we look like league leaders when we’re not expected to win and league 2 when we should be winning and the soft goals we’ve been conceding all season. Not all of that is down to the manager there is something collectively and fatally missing from this squad. Keates has made mistakes but if you don’t recruit any proven players at the level you’re at then the margin for error is going to be very thin.

We don’t sign experienced league 1 strikers in the summer let alone January when the prices are inflated. That is the root of the problem and it is not down to any of our managers.
