Doncaster Rovers (A) Tue April 1st, 7.45pm

“Bonnie White Rose”

(Cunningham)

“The time has come” (the walrus said) "to see if we can win. It’s been such a long time since we got nine on the spin" ….

With only seven games left in this memorable season it seems that each successive fixture has been increasingly treated as a “crisis match”, and our visit to Doncaster Rovers certainly fits in to that category. We are currently 5 points ahead of the leaders in the play-off group, who are (surprise!) Doncaster Rovers - and every team down to Crewe Alexandra in 9th place have won 2 or 3 out of their most recent 6. How many have we won? Well, you know that answer to that!

What’s significant about this week’s midweek games is the fixtures themselves.

Crewe Alexandra (9th) vs Grimsby Town (7th)
Doncaster Rovers (4th) vs Walsall (1st)
Port Vale (3rd) vs Bradford City (2nd)

Current form for Doncaster Rovers looks like this:-

February 22nd Accrington Stanley (A) Won 1-2
March 1st Newport County (H) Won 3-0
March 4th Bromley (A) Lost 1-0
March 8th Swindon Town (H) Drew 2-2
March 15th Crewe Alexandra (A) Drew 1-1
March 29th Carlisle Utd (H) Won 3-0

Players who have featured for both clubs at various times include Mick Bates, James Baxendale, Andy Butler, Darren Byfield, Colin Cramb, Donervon Daniels, Paul Downing, Mo Faal, Don Goodman, Jordy Hiwula, Sam Johnstone, Caolan Lavery, Jermaine McSporran, Franck Moussa, Mark Prudhoe and Lee Tomlin.

Mat Sadler will have Connor Barrett available following his two-match suspension, and the satisfaction of seeing George Hall back in action against AFC Wimbledon. Jack Earing is also reputed to be back to match fitness, so there’s plenty to choose from!

Prediction? Having predicted narrow victories for the past umpteen games and been wrong every time, perhaps on this occasion the prediction could be for a 1-1 draw…

I can see a heavy defeat, hope im wrong.

3-1

My heart is saying we will pull off a surprise win.

My head is telling me these are going to turn us over, big time.

I’d settle for a middle ground and take a point and hope we can turn up against Vale.

Great intro Welsh - thanks

I’d take a draw that’s for sure but I fear a 3-1 reverse :worried:

If, as @willenhall1 says we have Hornsby in goal, I will be amazed at just 3 goals conceded. He is 70 now and never played in goal. Not a bad singer though…

2-0 Doncaster is what my head says. I think this run we’re on might get worse before it gets better. :grimacing:.

Hoping that we have a bit of an underdog mentality though and Donny leave space us for us to counter-attack. I think we’ve got to see George Hall involved from the start too.

Type of game that no one expects to get anything but given how results are going for all teams in the promotion push wouldnt be surprised if somehow we pulled off a win.

0-1, Allen.

Doncaster to equalise in time added on

Watched Doncaster a couple of times and genuinely think they aren’t all that.

Feel like our set pieces will be key, their keeper is abit jittery when it comes to them.

Their main two centre half pairing are both out injured, the two that have replaced them have a combined age of 70.

If we can keep Luke Molyneux quiet, we’ll be alright.

3-0 Walsall!

With out striker force, I don’t think that’s really going to make much difference.

Matt currently can’t win a header, and runs likes he’s pulling a tractor.

I’m going for a 2-0 Donny win…but Donny concede goals like us so if we can get at them, then maybe just maybe we can get something

A good guide below providing some insightful hints and tips to get the most out of your evening in Doncaster.

Away supporters are situated in the North Stand, which has a capacity of up to 3,344 fans. If required, a segment of the East Stand can also be allocated for away supporters, raising the total capacity to 3,700.

Like many clubs these days, fans are subject to searches upon entering the stadium. Cash is not accepted at the turnstiles, so tickets must be bought in advance. Inside, the amenities are decent, and while fans are seated at a considerable distance from the pitch, the sightlines and legroom are both praiseworthy. The stewarding approach is generally non-intrusive but supportive. The stand’s low roof enhances acoustics, allowing away fans to create some noise.

The concourses are roomy and indeed dreamy, featuring several televisions to keep supporters entertained by showing TV before the match. For evening games this may include family favourites like Catchphrase or The Chase.

Simeon Chatterton, a visiting fan of Southend United, commented, “During our last match, it poured heavily, and it was evident that those in the front rows got particularly wet.” Fans who wish to smoke can do so outside the stadium during halftime only.

The Railway Pub and The Leopard are ideal for away fans and are located about 30 minutes from the stadium, so plan ahead. There is also a Beefeater closer, which is a particular favourite for away spectators.

If arriving in Doncaster by train, then there are numerous pubs in Doncaster Town Centre that allow away supporters in. The Tut-n-Shive is a popular pub and only a few minutes walk from the railway station. Failing that then other good pubs in the town centre are Wetherspoons. Not all of these pubs will allow in away supporters, and some won’t accept club colours, but if you keep colours covered you should be ok. All of these have a decent selection of hot and cold drinks and most serve a small amount of food.

The away end has the usual burgers (chicken and beef from £5.70), pies (cheese, pork and steak) and chips as well as hot and cold drinks and snacks including popcorn, pretzels and fruit pastilles. Alcohol is available in the away end on request. Cards are accepted inside the ground.

Anyone wishing to take a flag should strictly follow stewards instructions.

The weather is forecast to be generally fine and sunny if a little cool as the sun departs prior to kick off so spectators should wrap up accordingly.

Doncaster’s Keepmoat Stadium has a large car park on site with space for around 1,000 vehicles, although it is very popular amongst home and away fans so early arrival is advised. Prices are discounted to £5 for all ticket holders to the game. There are also spaces in nearby matchday carparks as well as some street parking options.

is there a carpark for cars to park on ?

What year did you get that from :joy:

I was going to say it was a bit outdated. I can’t remember the last time you could pay cash on the turnstile at a ground. Then I read about the Southend Supporter. Last time I went there was a little office you could go in and buy tickets (Card only)

I’m sure fans could go in their club too, it was decent from memory, but that wasn’t my last visit there, was quite a few years ago, so not sure if you are still allowed.

Fairly sure one time I went we parked on a big car park right next to the ground.
