I’ll be ok with this signing if we get DJ back and another quality forward in too.
I think he has a lot of potential but isn’t anywhere near ready yet
Struggled with the long ball game as he isn’t very strong and lacks that strikers instinct at the moment
However I like his movement and I think he can be a clever little footballer if we play ball into feet or channels on the floor
I’m happy to give him a go just aslong as he isn’t first choice unless he starts the season firing ofcourse
Worth a go and won’t cost alot, every team takes a chance on a young striker, this is ours
If DJT had come through the ranks at our academy a lot would be saying give the kid a chance.
Unfortunately the Academy isn’t producing at the moment so this is the next best thing imho cheap wage, he has to improve or his career at league level could be over, that should be motivation to work hard, if he does come good we have another year if he doesn’t his off. It also been cheap bench filler in main means there isn’t a big dent in the budget by this signing
I suppose someone has to be a backup player.Didn’t impress me personally but what do I know
We had his phone number?
Your opinion but lets hope it comes back to bite you.
I’m not his greatest fan, but he’ll do as a squad player. I remember Adebayo was useless for 6 months but he worked hard. Hopefully DJT will do the same.
Yeah lets hope, but I’ve already seen him for a year. Would be some turn around if that were to happen.
I’m happy with this signing. It’s a bit unrealistic to think that every player in the squad is going to be of guaranteed quality/experience. We have to have fringe/youth players challenging for their places and these young players have got to get that experience somewhere. DJT was a hard worker and had a great attitude from what I saw. Of course, if the season started now, I wouldn’t be happy to have just him and Matt as our only two strikers but add a DJ to the mix and I’d be more than happy with that.
If nothing else, the last couple of hour swing from unbridled optimism to utter despair sum up UTS quite perfectly.
Also wasn’t he ‘banging em in’ for the youth team at Stoke? I know it’s not a fair comparison but surely there must be an ability there, just needs a bit of nurturing may be??
I have no “likes” left for the day…but that’s superb post, spot on.
100% this, it’s cheap and very low risk, if he’s shit he gets released, if he plays well we can tie him down, he knows Sadler and like someone mentioned maybe on this thread or another one. He’s best when he’s played ball to feet, we didn’t do that last year at all. On the two occasions we did (Carlisle & Mansfield) he scored
Rumour has it that Sadler was having a telephone conversation with Boycott regarding signing a forward, Sadler apparently said to Boycott I’d like to resign DJ and just at this critical moment someone in the background in Sadlers office asked him if he wanted a drink? to which Sadler replied Tea, Boycott responded saying ok if you’re sure. Hence the signing.
Good signing.
Never got enough game time but you could see bags of potential.
His finish against Carlisle was a piece of forward play the likes of which we didn’t see from Williams in many more minutes and I recall an assist that was perfection.
Raw material but as I’ve said elsewhere - it is a position that demands a large premium so we have the choice of either growing one ourselves or loaning one because we can never buy a finished article. I see enough potential in JLT to suggest the growth is under way and we can nurture it.
Solid.
Again how did the super computer come up with this one ?
His stats were woeful, still good luck to the lad.
But evidently our ruled by his stats on the training ground:crazy_face:
Think he’s got more of a chance to prove himself this time round than last.
Squad player with potential. Definite upgrade from Timmy Abraham so happy with this.
