Drogheda United (A) - Friendly - Tue 30th July, 7pm

Factor in the back end of the other season.
Two pre seasons
Plus knowledge of working with these players

To not produce this season … first 5/6 game will result in massive pressure for him to go

I wasn’t impressed following the start to last season. I was glad we picked up a bit after Xmas, but the same issues plagued us in April that did in August … thsts down to nobody else but Sadler

Thank you for posting this. Some positivity after a dreadful performance! Frustrating to watch after a promising performance against Blues on Saturday. Still, neither counts for anything at the end of the day.

Great to hear - however I am sure the Women’s Institute of Grantham have a nice togetherness and work ethic too.

Did you ask them about the long ball and negative tactics? I’d love to know if they’re frustrated with it.

It also seems the players are too friendly with Sadler - and there isn’t much accountability or discipline. Just what I infer from yours and others comments. Is he a manager or their mate?

I’m probably being too cynical - however… my major gripe is that the football is negative, defensive and ponderous. Really awful.

That’s a brilliant post, thank you.

You know I’m as critical as anyone else. It didn’t change my opinion on the quality of the squad/players/manager.

In terms of frustration, that’s definitely not the vibe I got last night

Great post. Just out of interest did they say whether they had been in there the night before? Might explain something  :joy:

:joy: Jack Earing looked like he’d been there since the day before. In fairness to him, I’d find it hard to describe how frustrated he is with his own injuries. He really got across how much he hates it, but he also said he’s hoping to be fit for the start of the season.

I think most Sadders ( me included ) have tried to erase that from their memory banks

I assume you havent tried CTL/ALT/DEL next time you think of that day, it worked for me

Sadler delighted with the workout, fiercly contested cup final.

Doing his level best to give us more moments like last night.

Praised the incredible support for coming so far away to follow the team and hopes for more in the future.

It was great to see the shape of the team last night, I can see us picking up points with how solid we looked throughout the middle and back. All we need to do is draw 30 and win the rest and we will be fine.

Get this completely, but as fee paying fans we need to start seeing some tangible evidence of this on the pitch on a regular basis.

Popular does not always mean success…great if it comes…but!

Totally agreed. I still think the performances was poor and I still don’t have much confidence in the manager.

Looks like there was some great interaction between the players and fans last night from what I’ve seen today saw a video of big Dave singing with a Walsall flag wrapped round him :grinning:

Even the most jaded and cynical fan couldn’t help getting wrapped up in it last night. I probably am that man :joy:

Absolutely fantastic 3 days , shame about the football but the aftermatch party with the players was a great night.
Definitely getting to old for this now,!

I know the result wasn’t perfect but I think it has brought the fans and the players closer together and that is not a bad thing at all!

@el_nombre, I’m even seeing your more open and self deprecating side. Loving the new you, my friend. :+1:

If we’re all like this when we haven’t got a team that’s pulling up any trees (yet), imagine the feel good factor if we actually manage to string a few decent results together! :red_circle::white_circle::soccer::orange_heart:

Regardless of the performance in what was, after all, a friendly, the idea of bringing players and supporters together after the game seems to me to be genuinely positive and unlike previous regimes.

The players appear to be pretty happy with the set up, too. I suppose you could dismiss the event as PR but that would be cynical as those there are telling us it felt genuine.

And maybe that was the whole purpose?? match was of ‘little importance’… The bringing together of fans and players on a level plain worked wonders by sounds of things…
