Drogheda

Hopefully this loan will be the making of him, still can’t get that goal he scored against Grimsby out of my head and wonder where that came from, as he hasn’t done anything anywhere near as good for us before that, or after.

What a finish

Beautiful. How does his loan work? He’s there until June 2025 but the Irish season finishes in November.

Will he do half of the next season and then come back for our pre-season?

He is out of contract at Walsall at the end of the season, so it would depend if he signs a new deal or not I guess.

DJT…great prospect. Pace and skill.
Won’t be long with us.

Just seen his goal. Good finish, not sure about how the left wing back was allowed to run half the pitch without a worthy challenge being put in though!

Fair play though, got in front of the defender well to finish it.

DJT seemed a little fired up. Who was he remonstrating with?

Delighted to see Doug Taylor absolutely ripping it up over there. We all knew there was some player in there, a bit of confidence and now he’s really showing what he’s capable of.

Keep up the good work Doug!

I’m really happy for him, on his way to becoming a fans favourite I would imagine.

That finish would have been a goal in any division, shows that he has got the ability, maybe lacking the confidence

Well done Dougie. He’s found his level it seems.

Still wouldn’t have him anywhere near this squad.

Flynn always said that DJT thought too much and that he was at his best when he played instinctively but that might be another way of saying he lacked confidence. The way he has been putting away penalties belies the “too much time to think” idea. He looks to be making real progress and if it continues, expect a contract extension towards the end of the year and a real asset on our hands.

Knowing our luck, he’ll do well out in Ireland then decide not to renew his contract with us and go elsewhere… and probably come back to score against us. :man_facepalming:

And who could blame him really, if he hears about what is said about him on here?

For what it’s worth, I’ve always said that he has something about him but he seems to lack that extra 1% to get ahead of his defender when it matters or to make that challenge rather than just getting there too late. I thought the contrast between him and Draper was stark in that respect. However, that could easily be a confidence thing and something he learns and the goal he scored yesterday is a perfect example of just that.

Let’s be honest, he has been shit for us.

4 goals in the LOI in a short space of time is a good return BUT it is his level, nothing more nothing less.

We honestly didn’t and nothing he did with us suggested there was.

Talking to a Drogs fan at the game and he was raving about him, said he’d really made a difference.

Yes but he would have really made a difference if the Hussey arms team i played in had signed him
I know it’s a daft analogy but you get the picture

@Thanatos I’m sure you are aware that the league winners qualify for Champions League qualifying round and the next 3 the Conference league qualifying.
I think it’s too easy to dismiss it as a lower level than we play at.
I’m pretty confident that the top teams would more than hold their own at our level.

The Welsh league also qualify by default don’t they?

I’d say the standard is around national league - to national league north (from what I’ve seen). They have part time teams.

Look at that goal DJT scored yesterday - amateur hour defending. That doesn’t (or shouldn’t) happen.

Defending wasn’t great finish was.
LOI is also pretty much full time professional, I think it’s a lot better than the LOW .
You were at the game in Drogheda as I was there didn’t seem a massive gulf to me
