Drogheda

I guess that’s it, I just don’t have the interest in football, in general, these days like I used to. I know you like the Premier League because you follow Newcastle, and probably lot’s of other football. It’s just not for me nowadays, I just don’t love it like I used to.

I love taking my kids to the Walsall games home and away, and I follow England in tournaments on TV, I might listen to the odd Premier League game or Champions League on the radio in the background and that is about as much football as I take in. Each to their own.

Crod will be gushing over the eloquence of our very own Doug Taylor here.

Add that to the six goals he has contributed to Drogheda’s bid for Premier Division survival and his loan arrival from sister club Walsall United has proven a decent bit of business for Kevin Doherty’s team.

It seems like we have changed our name unless I am reading it wrong.

11 goals in all competitions

So he has got his 10 goals by Christmas.

Sad to hear about racist abuse he suffered at a game at St Patrick’s Athletic and indeed out and about. Just goes to show there are morons everywhere…

To be fair “negative” was a bit unfair. Especially when im not bothered about the link either - difference between been negative and impartial! Were probably similar in that regard!!

Though i do have an interest/ keep an eye out on how club is being run from a trivela point of view

Maybe fc united will get you in the cup sone day and ill tale a visit over then

Just noticed this from the RTE article

Why has nobody told us about the name change? Trivela out!

Edit: Apologies to @Cats hadn’t seen your post above!

I fear this Trivela cup could turn into Walsall’s Americas Cup we provide a Trophy and never win it :joy:

Tbf my 2 kids (not kids now 20 and 18) have really took an interest in Drogheda and watch every game on the dodgy box, my lad had this year shirt sent over by a good pal of mine who lives in Donnycarney, I’ve watched a few games myself and it’s good to see them finally turning their results around.
Let’s hope they win the final and get into Europe, tbf I think Trivela new this could be a possibility and was one of the reasons they invested, it will be great if DJT returns and becomes a fan favourite.

To be fair, I was (am) a sceptic about just how much running two clubs will benefit us, and I’m still not convinced that it’s a good thing resources that could be spent on us, could potentially go to another football club.

However, there is more to being a football fan, especially at this level. What the owners spend on us has never been a driving force in being a fan, and if it was you’d sure as shit not be a Walsall fan. This summer was something unique and every single person I met from Drogheda was a credit. I’ve certainly kept up with their results and am glad for those people that they’ve made a cup final, and look like they have a chance of staying up. If I had the time to spare, I’d definitely look at tickets for the final and making another trip over, but it is logistics unfortunately.

The argument that Drogheda take money from us, or vice-versa, is specious, as Trivela will have ring-fenced a pot for each club, so any usage of funds allocated for one, on the other, would only be remotely likely to happen if shit hit the fan financially (and there’d be bigger things to worry about then).

I’m happy we have a “sister” club, and will continue to look out for how they’re doing. As a Walsall fan, our trip to Ireland was something I never expected could or would happen, and it’s even better that they’re in a country, with a people, that I’m incredibly fond of.

You not agreeing with something, doesn’t make it specious. The argument is that “ring fenced pot” from our investors (key word) would be twice the size if it wasn’t split in half between the two clubs. Some see that as an issue, some don’t care. But it’s not specious, it’s factual.

I also don’t see anybody (with half a brain cell) suggesting they are taking money from Walsall and giving it to Drogheda. That would be very concerning, but there is no evidence of that whatsoever. We have never turned a profit enough for that to be a concern as a single entity, never mind mithering about if it would or would not happen.

Anyone with half a brain cell will not get into an argument with you, so I’ll leave it there for you to have the last word, as is your ego’s wont.

I thought that was pretty civil to be honest :joy: :man_shrugging: Sorry!

If you read carefully, you’d see I was actually agreeing with you that it’s not a worry that they are “taking money from Walsall and giving it to Drogheda”, but cheers for giving me the all important last word to point that out :+1:

And there he goes lol

There he goes, what? :joy: I’m genuinely bemused. I responded, as far as I can tell, completely on topic and reasonably, and people are whinging :man_shrugging:
